We're giving Potty Training another try
We tried about two months ago. He hardly had any accidents but that was because I was putting him on the toilet all day long. He never told me once if he had to go and he was extremely violent. Kicking, hitting, screaming. He hated every second of it.
He has now been telling me that he has to go Pee Pee on the Potty for a couple of weeks now so I figured we'd give it another try. I am NOT stressing over it. If it happens, great. If not, back in diapers for another month or so till we try again.
Wish us luck please!

Re: We're giving Potty Training another try
Let me know if you want me to forward you the 3-day PT guide.
This is try 3 for us. Ryan's being going on the potty for almost a yr, but just recently started asking to go, and asking for underpants. We're on day 3 now - he's doing really great telling me. He did poo yesterday too, and woke up from his nap dry We'll see how he does when I go back to work
Good luck Jack!!

What is the 3 day guide? DD loves to go potty but NEVER tells us she has to go.
Good luck Diana - as everyone keeps reminding me - it's not like she'll be going to college in pull-ups (at least I hope not)

Someone emailed it to me. FM me your email addresses if you want it. I modified it a bit (it suggests NO DIAPERS for naps or bedtime from the start). Umm, I can't deal with that We have used pull ups for the last 2 days for nap and bedtime. Yesterday, he woke up from his nap dry. We'll see what happens today. AND, I went in public with him today - we went to the bagel store for lunch and he stayed dry (attempted to use the potty there but I think that was just for entertainment ). BTW, it is IMPOSSIBLE to use a public restroom with a toddler when you're carrying a 9-month old I didn't plan to eat there so I didn't have my stroller for Colin - YIKES, but we survived and Ryan came home dry

Re: We're giving Potty Training another try
okay, so here's my thing.... Victoria has been going to the potty since last Nov. She was afraid at first so we took it very slowly. I'd say since May she has been happily going to the potty when we bring her. I tried doing only big girl panties for two weeks, she doesn't nap during the day so just constant trips to the bathroom. She never even notices AFTER she has an accident (she's told me maybe three times in a few months). So I feel like I am more pushing for her to be potty trained by now vs. that she is ready for it. I'm also worried about her getting used to the feel of going in her big girl panties and then a bigger delay in realizing she needs to go to the potty when she feels it. She watches videos, has gone through sticker charts and has books. All of which she loves. Sending you my email address!

That was our deal really. The first time Ryan peed on the potty was the day he turned 18-months. He was like a trained seal - he went 3-4x/day for nearly a year. But never asked to go. It was more like before bed, or a shower, "Ryan want to go on the potty?" and he'd go.
I knew he was young, but he's very verbal and clearly was going, so I tried underpants when I was on maternity leave with Colin. Ryan was about 22 months I think. I was torturous. It wasn't good for our relationship He was acting like I was hurting him when I'd suggest the potty - this from a kid who went often.
So, we went back to diapers.
Then a month or so ago tried again when he was asking for underpants. He did better but I didn't pick a time when I could REALLY commit to it.
This time I have a 4 day weekend for the process, with DH off the 2 days after that. It seems to be working. But he's asking to go. If he wasn't, I don't think I'd continue. From what I read, when they're ready it's not so bad. If they're not ready, it's not a good thing for anyone involved
Good luck!

Re: We're giving Potty Training another try
good luck! i have to add that i am so glad that i did it when it seemed directed by my DD. meaning that she was the one telling me. once she didn't like being in her own pee/poop she started to tell me. when i tried before that it was torture but once she was ready-that was it and she was trained within 3 weeks. its a good sign that he's telling you and definitely don't stress about it!
