I always hear people complaining about Sleepy's and now (UPDATED below another UPDATE , sooo angry!!!!

I know why:
we bought a bed for DD this weekend , mattress + box spring + frame, and it was pretty Chat Icon
They just delivered it and it's a FLOOR SAMPLE, mattress and box spring BOTH floor samples and the frame is all scratched up Chat Icon Chat Icon
I just called them , they apologized and said they will exchange it and will deliver "maybe" on Wednesday...But I am just so angry. This is such an unnecessary stress and waste of time . We didn't buy a floor sample so why would they send it? and if we did, why would we pay a full price for a floor sample? and what is up with a frame that looks like it's been used?
Now my DD's crib is taken apart, she slept with us last night , so now she is going to sleep with us again next 2 nights (and when she sleeps with us we don't get any sleep ) plus she has been looking forward to a new bed all weekend and all day today, she was so excited when she finally saw it and I had to tell her that she can't sleep in it Chat Icon
sorry for the vent, I'm just so annoyed
Chat Icon

-----------------------------------------------------------

SO they delivered another set THIS MORNING and it was tHE " FLOOR SAMPLE" AGAIN!!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon
So calld teh customer service, they will deliver on Saturday and "make sure" that they don't deliver a floor sample. I asked them for some kind of discount or delivery fee back they said"can't do" the best they can do is give us 2 pillows . so now we have to wait AGAIN see what happens. I really can not believe this is happening.
they keep telling us that floor samples are for "showrooms ONLY" and they are not to be delivered to customers....
Oh and one more thing: the delivery guys were extremely rude and when I asked them to wait so I could call the main # they got very annoyed , they just waved their arms and left without saying a word, just walked off

Chat Icon Chat Icon
P.S. told them we will be returning if it happens again and will be calling BBB.

Oh and the customer service representative told me floor samples are "made better" bc they are made "for the show" , that they didn't come from a store anything, they came from a warehouse and that maybe we should keep them, ONLY if they were heat sealed in plastic and not taped in plastic . I googled it and read the same thing .
The problem is that I don't know if they were taped in or if they were heat sealed, so we can't be sure that it wasn't returned or damaged or sitting in the warehouse for months with roaches and bugs crawling all over themChat Icon

We had issues with Sleepys (ftr, I am not on LI). We ordered a bed for my daughter and they didn't show up TWICE. There was a snowstorm the first time, which we understood, but they still should have called. And the second time, no show, no call. I cancelled and got her bed at Sears (and it was a better deal AND it came when it was supposed to.)

Re: I always hear people complaining about Sleepy's and now

heh thats funny - my dad ordered a mattress from Sleepys and also had to return it. They were late with the delivery and the mattress was the wrong one..My dad ended up hating it after sleeping on it for 2 weeks so he returned it..Sleepys wasn't happy.

My best friend worked for Sleepys in their IT dept. He quit about a year ago and he says its the best decision he ever made. The company is family owned and all they care about is buying up all the local mattress stores and buying their real estate so they can just keep expanding, expanding, expanding. Its a really crappy company to work for too - salesmen get more $$ than the managers and they basically are forced to sell everything just to meet their commission criteria..

I for one, wont buy from there after the horror stories I've heard, and their prices are not that low.

Re: I always hear people complaining about Sleepy's and now

We've bought a few mattresses from Sleepy's and never had a problem. We had one that developed a dip and they came, measured and we got a new mattress under the warranty. They always delivered what we ordered on time too. I guess it's a big company so mistakes will be made.

Re: I always hear people complaining about Sleepy's and now

We used them when we bought a new mattress and box spring a year ago. A few months later we moved - we couldn't get the box spring up the stairs so we had to get a split one. They "claimed" they were giving us the exact same boxspring for our mattress just the split - we sat home ALL day long on a sat or sunday I can't remember now waiting for the delivery. The window came and went and we called only to be told "oh yeah - we rescheduled your delivery this morning at 8 am to Tuesday and called you and left a message" - which we couldn't do and wouldn't have agreed to. They had 3 numbers for us - and they called DH's WORK number so they claim - but they never left a message and without his extension number (which they didn't have) there was no way they could have left a message.

They RESCHEDULED for the next weekend - and took some money off. Then - the next weekend we got a nasty phone call with the driver yelling us to let him into the (insert curse words) house. Turns out they used our OLD address (we had the receipt showing that they had our new address). Anyway they refused to drive the 1.5-2 miles across town to deliver it even with their mistake. They were really nasty about the whole thing. After a lot of back and forth, tons of phone calls it turns out - the mattress that WE ordered was on a long backorder so they were going to deliver to us an inferior box spring and charge the price of the better brand and NOT tell us.

We ended up going to bloomingdales and got one from them for a MUCH MUCH lower price than sleepys wanted.

Re: I always hear people complaining about Sleepy's and now

So Yesterday I had to sit and wait for them to deliver from 8-12 , they came at 12:50.
So as I already posted above once I called them and told them we got a "floor sample " they agreed to exchange. I confirmed the time today, they said that this was some kind of mistake and this mattress set should have never left a warehouse (so who knows what happened, but anyway...) Chat Icon
So tomorrow Wed. they are coming between 9-1. So I have to sit home almost all day with a 3YO and wait for them AGAIN.....Chat Icon Chat Icon

So my question is : would I be wrong to ask them for some money back for the inconvenience they have caused us??

I would cancel the order all together and not wait for them to screw up again.

The fact that this happened 2 times and they're not willing to give you any money back.... done and done.

I agree. When they didn't show the second time they at least offered something, I forget what, but I declined it.

I know, I wanted to, but DH doesn't want to go and look for another one again, it took us so long to pick one we like and DD "loved" it ( she actually said " I love it" after trying out few ) Chat Icon But I told DH if the screw up again not giving them another chance.
I just couldn't believe that they wouldn't give us something and I really do NOT need more ppillowsChat Icon Chat Icon

What a nightmare.

DH and I are going to be shopping around for a mattress soon and we had gone into a Sleepy's on a whim. I mentioned that to a coworker and he said that EVERYONE he knows who ever dealt with them has had problems.

And now reading not only the OP's problems with them, but details that other folks shared...yeah, Sleepy's is not going to be getting a return visit from DH and I.

To the OP: I'm sorry you have been so inconvenienced, and that your daughter has been let down by this company on more than one occasion Chat Icon

I would cancel the order, call Bloomingdales and Macy's - sometimes you can get good deals and I found that Bloomingdales was actually cheaper for the box spring than Sleepys wanted and so much easier to deal with.

That is disgusting but NOT unusual I have heard a lot of horror stories - most were told to us when I told people about what happened to us.

wow! I can understand the first mistake but after that someone at sleepy's should have put you on their radar & made sure that the correct goods were on their way.

The same thing happened to us where there were 2 dips where DH and I lay. This happened after 3 months of use & we are both thin.

Call your credit card company and give them the heads up. Get the names of everyone you have spoken to at Sleepys as well. In the event that they don't come through and you have to dispute the charge or they wind up just charging you for delivery.
Why should you have to pay for that.
