? regarding throw up in car seat

Lily threw up Friday night in her car seat (Still the infant seat)...she is almost done with it...we cleaned the base and washed the cushion in the machine...but parts of the straps could not be washed in the machine and just with a wash cloth and soap...etc...this seat is from my sisters kids and it is about 5 years old....I feel like it still may smell a little...would you throw it out and get it a new seat when I have another one which will prob. be at least another 3 years...? We are keeping everything from Lily for the next.

Re: ? regarding throw up in car seat

the car seat will definitely be expired by the time you need it again, if it is not expired already (they normally have a 5 year life)

I would chuck it Chat Icon

When you say expired, what do you mean?

Re: ? regarding throw up in car seat

All car seats have an expiration date on the. Most likely they are 5 years. After that time, they do not guarantee that the integrity of the materials (foam, plastics) has not been compromised from the sun and the heat.

I would definitely throw that car seat away and get a new one when you have a 2nd child.

ETA: The expiration date should be printed somewhere on the car seat.

exactly. They are not supposed to be used after 5 years so I would def. get rid of it.
