Where would you stay in NYC for $500 - $600 a night?
We're going to spend a night in the city for our anniversary....Not sure where to stay.
We have already stayed at these hotels, so they are out:
All the W Hotels St. Regis Westin Essex House Sheraton
Four Seasons, Ritz and Mandarin Oriental are above our budget.
I was thinking the Gansevoort, Tribeca Grand, Soho Grand, Gramercy Park Hotel....Any feedback on those or any other suggestions?
Thanks!

The Standard? You should be able to get a room in your price range. The beer garden there is really fun too.

New York Palace...stayed there w/ DH it is beautiful. Very old world Manhattan, like the Plaza. It is where the girl in Gossip girls lives w/her mom.

DH and I just stayed at the Tribeca Grand for 1 night for our anniversary this past weekend. We paid $135 through Priceline! I'm pretty sure you can get it much cheaper than $500/night! The hotel was great - I highly recommend it!

Depends what part of Manhattan you want to be in also. I've been to the Palace and spent the night there - IMO, it was overpriced for what it was. It's around the corner from my office - I think I pretty boring part of town
Four Seasons St. Regis Regency
Oops, I see 4Seasons & St. Regis are out.
You want trendy or classic?

gansevoort (only in meatpacking).
rooftop pool is awesome!
Also you're in the heart of the schmooze scene and across the street from the highline!
ETA: If you want to be close to Central Park, did you check out the Hudson Hotel? It's swanky and chic. Their bar is REALLY cool and it's got a good vibe (down the street from Mandarin Oriental)

Obviously, trendy since I am so cool Jessee! I mentioned The Palace at first bc I am a Gossip Girl Freak, and when I told DH, his response was, "Are we from Nebraska?"
I think we may do downtown or Meat packing. I'm definitely going to look for a deal, the $500 range is the tops. Although now we are also thinking about going to New Orleans for the weekend if my parents can watch the kids. I got suckered in by The Princess & The Frog and need to go back!!
Thanks everyone!!

DH and I stayed in a suite at the Gansevoort the day after our wedding. It's a great hotel, good food and drinks in the restaurant downstairs, rooftop, nice area and the room was beautiful.

Re: Where would you stay in NYC for $500 - $600 a night?
The Ritz downtown shouldn't be as expensive as the one by Central Park.
My friends stayed at the Library Hotel and really loved it. I've always wanted to stay there.
Other recommendations would be Waldorf Astoria, Gansevoort Hotel or the Hudson Hotel.
All these hotels vary in price depending on the dates but I believe they are around $500 or so.
