how many words does your 12 month old say?

im getting concerned because my ds doesnt say any words at all just pionts and grunts is this normal?

No words here but not concerned at all. She *talks* to the dog constantly!!


ETA: She'll say mamamamamama, dadadadadadada, and what I pretend is "Thank you" but she honestly sounds like she's speaking Chinese more than Kai Lan!

Rylan didn't have his FIRST word until about 22 months. I wouldn't worry yet.

Almost 14 months and he only says a few words. A lot of times he repeats what I'm saying.

Never does it on command and sometimes if he says a new word I get excited and he never says it again.

Although he doesn't point at all.

Not too concerned though.

DS only said Dada at 12 months old. He didn't really start getting a few more words until 15 months old. Now at 19 months he doesn't stop talking at all!!! I can't even keep count of how many words he has now!

DD is just over 11 months but says about 7 words Consistenly and a few others she HAS said but only once in a blue moon (bye bye, night night and all done).

DD will be 1 in August and says about 5 words. She also loves to try to immitate us although at first it mostly comes out like "dadadadada".

Only a few... and they just popped up over the last few weeks.

She says Dada, Aya (for Alex), At (for cat), Uh-oh as she drops something on the floor over and over again , yes, and Da (for Doggy).

But, at the same time, she does a LOT of pointing and grunting to show me what she wants.

DD (almost a year) has about 4 words (Hi, Bye, Dog, Dada), and 5 sounds for words aren't the full word but I know what she means, shoe, cheese, the name of my parents dog and cup (I guess I would call them word approximations). This is all a realatively new thing go, 2 weeks ago all she said was Bye and alot of babble, so it def changes fast.

I don't think it is cause for concern/examination until after 18 months. At that age my kids had,maybe 4 words

My DD didn't start talking until she was 2.

Now she won't stop.

12 monthsis, IMO, really early.

DS will be 1 on Thursday and all he says is Dada, Hannah (my DD's name) and on occasion, Mama. It's a lot of babble, yelling, pointing and grunting. I think it's completely normal.

and she will normally repeat after me, if she wants to...she was playing with a sesame street toy the other day and i said ernie, and she repeated after me.

eta: by 'there'...i mean she'll say them if she's in the mood...and 'kitty' is more of 'kiiiiiy' - there is NO consistency to it at all...

DS seems to say about 4-5 words - Dad-da, Mama, Hello and Dog. But they're not really clear and sometimes he says Dadda and doesn't mean his dad, but other times he looks right at him and says Dadda, KWIM? So, who knows, really! And the others aren't as specific, but every once in a while the pronunciation will be really clear - it's hit and miss, really! I wouldn't worry

that's about it...she kind of does a whine/grunt thing when she wants something

and when she's mad/frustrated, she talks jibberish

She recently LOVES to hand me something and listen to me say "Thank you"...all day she keeps handing me stuff

She does wave hi and bye though

he'll be 1 on friday and he only has a few words that he uses correctly/consistently:

Dada
Mama
Yiayia (his babysitter - its greek )
Papa (grandpa)
"that" while grabbing for something
and my new favorite, "Joooooe" (my brother)
"Yaaaaay" when he's excited
night night when he wants to go to bed


..... but he's not walking yet.

At 12 months nothing but dada occasionally.

At 17 months he was still mute

By 18 months he had like 10 words!

By 2 years & 1 month.... now....I wish he had a mute button
