Charlotte, NC
DH and I looking to head down to Charlotte, NC in October to see the NASCAR race.
We will also take a trip over to Asheville, NC to see the Vanderbuilt mansion there and head over to the Great Smokey Nat'l Park.
In stating this, we will be travelling over a week's time period.
So....I need recommendations on hotels in these areas.

We're going to Asheville in two weeks for our first anniversary. I'm really excited because we just signed up for a segway tour of the city! We did a segway tour of Paris on our honeymoon and it was so, so much fun!!!
We're staying at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel -- I can let you know after the 18th how it is if you want. 
I've only been to Charlotte a few times (my great uncle lives there) so I don't have any recommendations for that part of your trip -- sorry!

Asheville is a super cute town. Tons of yummy restaurants in the "downtown" area. I haven't stayed overnight though.
I've been to Great Smoky Mtn NP a bunch of times, so let me know if you need any help there. I can't recommend hotels nearby because I've always camped in the park. Have fun!

The Marriott in Asheville was great! The location was perfect for going into downtown Asheville to wander the streets and dine out! The room was nice and we also enjoyed the hotel pool (it's indoors, but not very deep -- it was still fun).
Just wanted to give you the update!
I couldn't do the segway tour -- pregnant girls shouldn't try to go on the segway. But DH had a great time!

Im trying to convince my husband to go to another one. We want to go to 1 race a year at a different track!

This is what we've been doing for the last 3 years. It's been fun planning these adventures and most race tracks have deals for tickets or tickets & hotels. FM if you want ideas that aren't expensive!
