Where did YOU sit at the baby shower?

Im having a sit down setup for the baby shower. I have 44 people(38Adults/6Kids) total including me and mom. My dilema is where do *I* sit when eating?

Do I sit with my mom& family (who if you ever read my posts before cant stand cause they hate me... they are coming for my mom basically) or do I sit with my friends?

I know it might seem very straightforward (of course sit with the friends) but my mom is going to INSIST that I sit with her family and how rude it will be if I dont. Its gonna cause drama and might even be yet ANOTHER reason for her family to hold something against me :( I FEEL TRAPPED!!!

WWYD? Where did YOU sit @ your shower when eating?

Re: Where did YOU sit at the baby shower?

I havent had my baby shower yet but at my bridal shower, I sat with my friends- ate and then circulated and tried to visit with every table before the games started

Its your day- I think you should sit where you would have the best time- and just try and spend some time at each table Chat Icon

Mine was a surprise but my sister set up the dais with me, my mom, my MIL, and DH's two grandmas. I thought it was so nice!

I think you should sit where you will feel the most comfortable but don't stress it - you barely sit anyway!

We did not have any formal seating arrangement for my baby or bridal shower. For both I ended up sitting with my friends, but honestly, for both I really barely sat. I wolfed down food and then circulated. The most I sat was when I was opening the gifts.

Thanks for the responses ladies... I didnt have a bridal shower so I didnt know that you dont really sit most of the time, I dont really know how any of this goes especially since planning it myself... im lost.

If what you guys are saying is the case maybe I can just take my plate and sit for a while with both tables?

Honestly, I HATE to say this but planning your own baby shower + family drama (including your own mother) makes this process not very fun!!Chat Icon Kinda looking forward to all this being OVER.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

No you dont take your plate with you but when you walk in you go around to everyone and say hello. Then you sit and eat a little bit. In between each course, I tried to chat with a different table. Then when the food is done (or in between courses) you will be up front opening gifts. Once gifts are done and you have cake/take pictures then everyone will be coming to you to say goodbye.

ok that sounds like a good schedule, where do you fit the games in.. in between courses?

******Also, is it gonna look really bad if I delegate the games? or should I ask one of my friends of they can take charge of that?

TIA, this is all very helpful.

I would ask a friend to help, and do them early before everyone gets bored and stops paying attention! LOL

Its cheesy but the best game is bingo b/c it keeps people involved in the gift opening!

Re: Where did YOU sit at the baby shower?

I literally went from table to table my entire shower. I ate after everyone was done so while people were eating I bounced around from table to table.

Re: Where did YOU sit at the baby shower?

At my bridal shower, I really didn't eat. I might have picked here and there and basically stood holding a plate mingling. At my baby shower, it was different. We had appetizers and then the main course, so I was sitting. I sat with my mom, 3 sisters, grandma and Aunt (my godmother) and my mom's best friend!
