DD was like that. She said her first words around 7 months. She had a lot of words at 9 months too. By 12 months she was speaking in short sentences. She has always been very advanced speechwise. Since she was my first, I thought it was normal until I started bringing her around other children her age. I was shocked at the difference.
DS is the total opposite. He's 15 months & has very few words. I remember at one of his well visits before a year I told the doctor I was worried because he wasn't talking. She looked at me like I had 3 heads

DD was a super early talker as well.
She is 17 months now and and it amazes me the things she says and questions she asks.

My twins were early talkers as well...
I dont recall specifically how many words they had at 9 months...BUT...at 6 months they said 6 words consistantly. When i took them to their ped for their 6 month visit he looked at me like I was a looney. He walked out of the room came back in and one of them said "hi"...he must have walked in and out of the room 1/2 dozen times just to hear them say it.
They were talking in full sentences by 18 months...Miss Sophia sounds like she is well on her way there as well...

9 mts - one time he said "Mama Baba" and then he NEVER said it again!
Cailen said not one word at 9 mts - that is very early for most kids to be talking. He didn't truly talk until after he was 1. The words came at 13-14 mts, then exploded between 15-20 mts. Lots of babbling at 9 mts, but no words....

DD#1 still speaks in her own language at 21 months! I call her "Morimoto" because it sounds like Japanese to me most of the time. She does speak some words and understands what we are saying but no sentences that other people would understand. It sounds like your DD is definitely advanced. That is awesome!!

almost 10 months and her only words has been dada and mama. I think she said it only a few times it's not an everyday thing.

Derek only makes sounds like maamaa but I dont know if he is associating it with me. He will make sounds like baba but again, I dont know if he is assocating it with a bottle yet.
I agree. My DS is 11 months and seems to say Mama, Dadda, Hello, and dog. But I don't think you can realy be sure he's actually saying "words" and he's VERY chatty.

DD "says" a lot of words - mama, dada, baba, oh no, yeah, dog, cat - but she has no idea what she's saying. it's all babble still right now.
this is dd too, shes 11 months... no real meaningful words LOTS of babble though... she did say bye a few times in the right context though... and calls my parents dog "pa", a shortened version of its name. Those would be the only two words I've actually ever heard with meaning.

I think she's definitely advanced, but i don't know if I would count mmmmmm or even at (if she's referring to the cat). that's what I think is different w/ people and speech--DS says mmmmm but I don't count it as a word (anything he wouldn't get scrabble points for, I don't count, and I don't count unless it is directed at the correct thing ).

Ry Ry (to which Ryan responds "no, you call me Ryan Le...(Our last name) LOL
And nana (banana)
Ryan, I believe only said dada and mama by 10 months or so, but by 12-14 months had over 60 words in his vocabulary so they def. Explode at their own pace

i can understand that.
BUT - the reason i count all the words I have listed as words is because she uses them in context. she says mmmm for yumm while eating. i count "at" because she's trying to say cat, directing it towards our cat. she's correlating sounds with objects. whether the word comes out perfectly is another story, but it's still speech. her diction isn't perfect but then again she is only 9 months. she calls me mama, her father dada. she says yay when she's happy or pleased with herself. she says jump when she jumps, and up when she wants me to pick her up.

One that that is pretty cool is he really understands what dog means. He says this when he sees pictures and figurines of dogs.

You shouldn't have to defend yourself. 
Some kids talk early, some talk later. They will all even out someday.
Often on these boards, if your child does something early it is seen as bragging or exaggerating. There is nothing wrong with being proud of your daughter.
My DS was saying words while pointing at the correct object since 6/7 months. I have videos of it and even now looking back I am so amazed by the things he did.

ABSOLUTELY NOT !!!!
I also don't count words as 'words' until he says them referring to things, and says them well enough that someone else doesn't need me to translate 
Maybe I'm a little too hard on the poor kid !!

I don't want to turn this into a drama thread but it's very presumptuous of you to assume that it's too early for a 9 month old to associate words with meanings/objects and that my daughter is merely imitating sounds. How is it “imitation” when she clearly says her version of CAT and points to the cat, or when she's touching the cat? She says "baby" when I give her doll, which we call baby. She waves and says BYE BYE when we leave. That’s clearly not imitation but true word association. I guess I'd have to take video to prove my point
