Brazilian Waxing --

Anyone know a good place near Smithtown that does Brazilian Waxing? And, on a scale of 1-10, how much is it going to hurt like a biiiiatch?!!

You are so brave---please be careful with it -- remember your skin is soooo sensitive! Brazilian waxing is like taking a layer of skin off your junk as well as the hair!

Re: Brazilian Waxing --

I don't know a place near smithtown, but on a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 7 at it's worst (pain scale varies based on strip location). But you have to understand it only hurts for a second (when she pulls the strip off). Then the pain is gone, so it isn't a constant pain.

Pop an advil 20 minutes before your appointment... people claim that lessens the pain.

also, how is the irritation -- anything to worry about??

i found that t. carlton in smithtown AKA the funeral home does them.

she said they do it upstairs so i think i can do it -- i'm not yet comfortable with venturing downstairs lol lol.

You may be a bit red and sore the first time you do it, but I'd imagine the pain wouldn't last more than 24 hours.

It's not that bad and SOOO worth it!!

Good luck!

lol, I guess it depends on how sensitive your skin is. And the first time you ever do it you'll be sore. I don't think you'd be to sore to enjoy your evening though... Chat Icon

Personally I would do it at least the day before if you want to look hot and enjoy it, especially the first time. I know for me I was definitely sore for at least a day after the first time, and also a little red looking. DH didn't see until two days later though (I did it 2 days before our wedding and was staying at my parents, so no DH viewing until the wedding night!)

Also, certain medications can make you bruise or react badly to it, according to the girl the last time I went. She said lots of allergy meds make it worse, which was apparently why I bruised a little bit. Sorry if TMI just trying to help!! Chat Icon

Take a couple ibuprofen 30-45 minutes prior to your appointment.

Your swelling/redness can depend on a lot of things: when your period is due, meds, first time, pregnancy, etc..

I'm not that sensitive, so it wasn't that big of a deal for me the first time. It hurt more, but it wasn't unbearable (waxing my legs hurt more). The only times I swelled/bruised a bit was when I was in the beginning stages of my pregnancy and that only happened with my first two. I've been doing brazilians throughout this pregnancy and the worst part about it is making sure I don't get any leftover wax on my clothes. Chat Icon

ETA: Ohh, and I've never had an issue with my DH seeing me the same night I was waxed. Other than being bare, nothing else was obvious.

ITA! The first time I had it done I was red and puffy. Definitely a 9 on the pain scale. I showed DH and he said it looked "angry" Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Brazilian Waxing --

I get it done every 4 weeks at the Spa at San Tropez. I would honestly say that the pain is a 5ish...in the beginning it was worse, but now its really not that bad. She told me the more consistently I come, the less it would hurt and she was totally right. Its more the anticipation that is hard than the actual waxing.

I've been going for 4 years....go to Daisy Spa right after the car wash on Middle Country in Centereach on your right hand side.

Her name is Deedee....she's the BEST and believe me I have been to a ton of places.

You will love it...it hurts the first time but its mostly the anticipation that is scary. I've converted tons of friends to the brazilian!

I am very pale....it is red but it goes away shortly

If you go in the early part of the day you will be able to enjoy it by the evening!

Re: Brazilian Waxing --

I did it twice so far and LOVE It.

The first time I was really red and puffy but 24 hrs later it was fine.

The second time I went to Daisy spa and she is awesome. It barely hurt and no redness or puffyness!!!!!!

Re: Brazilian Waxing --

I would say the pain is a 5 and gets better each time you have it done. I have pretty sensitive skin and I was red at first but fine by the evening.

ITA with this. also try not to go right before your pd; it hurts more.

it's the best thing EVER. I won't do anything else.

Re: Brazilian Waxing --

She's in massapequa, but Barbara at Cactus is so so good at what she does.

I mean, it's like 10 minutes and done.

I'm fair skinned too, but I don't think it hurts more because of that.

Like other posters said, take advil or aleve an hour or half hour before.

don't be shy because they are all up in your business. Chat Icon

Is that anywhere near Northport?
I go to Sonia's Brazilian Wax and she imports the wax from Brazil. It's like taffy and she's really fast.
There are few locations including NYC and she does the whole thing and 1/2 leg in less than 30 m and I was really happy with the whole thing/

Re: Brazilian Waxing --

I just got home - it was fine.

I think the pain was around a 6ish.... the worst was a 6. But mostly a 4/5. And for me, it's not so bad b/c it is not like an ongoing pain. So, it is fleeting which is totally doable.

It was around 60 bucks -- not sure if that is a lot of money?

I went to T. Carlton the Funeral Home / Spalon on 347 in Smithtown. Unfortunately, I was downstairs which creeps me out -- that is where they kept the bodies!!! Chat Icon Anywho, Claudette from Jamaica did my waxing. She was wonderful. I will keep this person from Daisy in mind however - b/c she sounds great. But I have to say, Claudette was so good about it and even though I have nothing to compare it to, it felt like she made it less painful.

In the future, they have a cream that numbs the area. It is called the "no scream cream". If you put it on 30 minutes before you don't feel hardly anything at all. Chat Icon

Thanks everyone!!!

I have looked at it and I love it! I already feel great! Chat Icon

Re: Brazilian Waxing --

Before my wedding, I got a Brazilian on a Thursday, I was red and swollen, I had to use milk and a soft paper towel to get the redness out and it took like 2 days before the swelling went down and I got married on a Sunday.. but I am sensitive.. so I am the rare case AND I took Motrin before I did it and it STILL hurt like a B*tch!!!
