Anyone ever get their hair "glazed"?UPDATE

I have darkest brown hair (almost black).

I have a cple gray's Chat Icon that I have been cutting.

A hairdresser told me a "glaze" would cover them and any potentials lurking.

I do not highlight and am looking to avoid highlighting bc I like my hair color and when I was younger the highlights made my hair thin out/look kinda damaged.

SO those of you who have glazed their hair please tell me about it Chat Icon

UPDATE: Got it done--with red tint--change in color is very slight--prob in the light more red will pick up (did a eggplant tone) --looks really nice though good body and shine Chat Icon

I've never had a colored glaze put on but I always have a clear one put on after I get my highlights done. It makes my hair very shiny and soft.

It will be nice. The glaze or gloss as they call it deposits some color and makes the color a little richer and soft.

If you go with a clear you won't cover the grays.

I get it done after highlights and I've gotten it done just over my own color.

You will like it.

Re: Anyone ever get their hair "glazed"?

hmm .... I'm not sure. I've never seen them recommend it to anyone with hair that's already shiny before.

I usually see them doing it on people like they do mine... it's usually as a second step to someone that already has color or highlights... i guess that's prob because coloring the hair makes it dry so therefore we need the healthy shine back.

I would try to google it and maybe find a pic of what your hair might look like afterwards.

ETA: I only see what goes on inside a salon for the amount of time I'm in there getting my hair done. So, they might recommend it to people with already shiny hair. I'm sure your hairdresser wouldn't steer you wrong though. Glazes aren't permanent (I think depending on the brand they only last a few weeks) so you could try it and see if you like it.

I don't color my hair in anyway - it's natural. The only thing I do get is a gloss every 4 months or so.

It makes your hair shine & just coats it so it doesn't get too damaged from styling. It lasts about a month or so - depending how often you wash your hair.

I have also done a color glaze a few times - mostly in the winter time. It's temporary & washes out after 6 weeks. Great way to change it up without the damage of highlights & dye jobs.

Awesome! Thank you...

What colors do they have?

For dark hair I am guessing I should go with something with a red tint?

I've done mahogany, jet black & an eggplant. I have dark chestnut color hair. The jet black was the most extreme - I loved it though.

The colorist will be able to tell you what will work best, which color will show more versus which is a light coloring. Again, depending on many times you wash your hair - it can last longer than 6 weeks.
