When did they have the word explosion?
Chels is just turning 18 mos this weekend, and she has at least 20-30 words, BUT recently all she's been saying is "this" for EVERYTHING including things that she knows...I feel like she's trying to learn everything, but when I ask her what something is, she can correctly identify it, but this past week she won't and just says "this this this..." so was wondering when everyone saw the big word explosion!
TIA!

Re: When did they have the word explosion?
I think DD was on the early side. By her 15 month visit she was using well over 50 words. She is 17 months now and has started putting two words together.
The ped. was surprised that she knew so many words at her visit - I think it's because she is trying to keep up with her big sister.
ETA: She does still point and say this or that a lot too.

Re: When did they have the word explosion?
No major word explosion here. But I would say around 22 months he was getting 1 new word every week. Now at (almost) 2 he has almost 1 new word every other day or so.

Re: When did they have the word explosion?
Thanks, she has been having a new word I would say every week or two..but even when she knows the word she says "this" sometimes for instance she can correctly point out a duck, or a spoon and say the words for it 90% of the time, this week she's just saying "this" for those items...
She also strings together two words like "what's that" but I don't consider that stringing together two words, it's more of a phrase she learned that way I think..if that makes sense...

Re: When did they have the word explosion?
DD never really had an explosion, but learns new words everyday. She is almost 17 months and asks questions and says simple sentences. She has more words than I could/would try count at this point.
