What season/month was your child/children born in and pros/cons??
To answer, Ryan was March 20. - nice to be able to go for walks immediately - flu season was nearly over BUT - he was too young really to "enjoy" the summer - bday still falls in a colder month so i have to do indoor bday parties
Colin was Oct 30 - had he been my first staying inside would not have mattered (but having Ryan we needed to get out) - he was here for the holidays (good to celebrate with him but Thanksgiving we stayed away from the big side of the family) - now he's a good age to enjoy summer - i still have weight to lose but i am not dreading summer clothes as much nearly 8 months PP
Cons - born in flu season and ended up hospitalzed when he had a fever (that amounted to nothing) at 7 wks - again, not ideal season for an outdoor party
Also born different season than Ryan so needed more baby clothes initially (now he is 18 months so he caught up fast LOL)
In theory, i like the idea of a summer baby because my mom has an awesome pool yard for parties, but dread the thought of being that pregnant, in the heat, with a couple of boys to run after so i guess i am curious about others perspectives - not that this is a science, and honestly, first and foremost having a healthy, happy baby is all i can ask for

Mine will be born in late June- or early July if I go as late as I am predicting. I am so happy about that. Summer is truly the only season I have a use for- and the fact that I'll have a few weeks off in my favorite season- just thrills me I love the thought of being able to take her out for walks right away, etc It's a great season for birthday parties too- especially with our pool!

Re: What season/month was your child/children born in and pros/cons??
#1=early September #2=early May #3=late October
Loved the season of my first pregnancy and her birthday! Loved the summer maternity stuff and the fact that by the time she was born it was almost ready to cool down so that I could hide the extra weight under sweaters, etc. and emerge with my hot body the following spring. Also, as a teacher I was off from week 30 on...laying around in a/c all day is definitely a bonus. Her birthday is always warm still. The only problem there is, it typically falls around Labor Day/first day of school so it's becoming awkward to celebrate birthdays in school and with school friends.
May was awesome because we could be out and about from the start and then throughout the next several months. Another awesome time of year for an outdoor party. The cons are winter maternity clothing and trying to BF a super-sweaty newborn.
Here I am again going through the summer. Again, loving the clothing and flip flops, but disliking being a SAHM and having two children to chase and entertain all day long in the heat...not like the first summer pregnancy, that's for sure! Otherwise, I guess only time will tell how I feel about the rest of it...

But I am SO excited to possibly have him/her here by Thanksgiving [due 1 week prior] and for xmas, etc. Dec is a huge bday month in my fam so I know I'll be seeing alot of my extended family all month. I also am excited for the following summer, as baby will be old enough to go to the beach and eat sand

Re: What season/month was your child/children born in and pros/cons??
DD was a December baby (although actually due in Jan).
-I liked having the early part of my pregnancy in the summer, and the more uncomfortable part in the cooler fall months. -By the time summer rolled around, she was old enough to take in the pool. -Birthday parties will be inside, but I don't mind about that. -Didn't like being stuck inside for most of my maternity leave (too cold).
#2 is due in Dec too! My maternity clothes will be the same seasons!

Re: What season/month was your child/children born in and pros/cons??
DS was born in Mid April and I LOVED it!!
It's been warm enough for his birthday both years to have it outside and it doesn't coincide with any holidays.
I was able to take him out right away and all through my maternity leave we went out every day.
I never had to worry about flu/cold season or bundling him up for the cold when he was a newborn.
Yeah, I missed out on the beach for that summer but there was no way I was wearing a bathing suit anyway!
DD is due in mid-August, so I'll still have till late October, early November to take her out for walks right away. Hopefully, I will still be able to take DS to the park with DD in tow.
Summer maternity clothes are so easy and wearing flipflops is great but I do not look forward to having huge bloated legs in August and sweating my arse off.
I think summer birthdays are awesome, especially since we have such a huge family, everyone will most likely be able to make it.
She will be a great age in the summer for the beach next year and I'll get to enjoy most of this summer with DS.
Germ-wise, she will be older when flu/cold season hits so I won't have to worry as much as if she were a newborn. She'll be the perfect age for holiday get-togethers where I don't have to worry about her getting passed around.
All in all, I am very happy with both seasons!

Eddie was mid-sept.
Pros - perfect weather, still warm out for his bday, but fall is right behind with GORGEOUS fall weather. Its my favorite time of year. It was still warm enough to get out of the house with him when he was a newborn. Just in time for pumpkin picking and loved that all his first big holidays were only weeks away from when he was born!

Re: What season/month was your child/children born in and pros/cons??
Elizabeth was a January baby. It was great timing as far as the pregnancy went...
I was still small in the summer so the heat didn't affect me too terribly but I got to look "cute" in maternity clothes (as opposed to what I look like now).
I was waited on hand and foot at Thanksgiving and Christmas, instead of being expected to host and cook and clean (like I did this Thanksgiving and I truly knocked myself out).
But when she was born I was stuck inside on the brutally cold days which sucked. I took her out in 30 degree weather for walks - I could NOT stay inside all day without going crazy!!
I was down to a reasonable size by summer time and didn't feel terrible putting on shorts.
This one is coming um... what did you say? In 9 days?
What's good about that is that I'm getting this summer off of work...
and I will be out and about as soon as possible.
I can't stand the flippin heat - 75 degrees = 105 to me right now.
I won't be able to put on a bathing suit all summer which is both good and bad, but since I won't be able to go in a pool it's more bad.

Re: What season/month was your child/children born in and pros/cons??
Late August
Ugh, hot. I kept working in the city (World Financial Center) and communting from Huntington until the second week of August. That was just brutal! The hot subways and the crowds. Sweat pouring down my sides. Not fun.
Good news I never had to worry about a maternity coat. I didn't get 'big' until after 4mo along.
Bad, there was just no way to be cool.
Good, AJ was born on the 22nd two days after my own birthday! still had plenty of fall time to go outside and get fresh air!
Good, She was old enough sit up for her first Xmas openings. Young enough to be ok with being bundled up tight for the winter months. Easy enough to carry in her car seat during snowy days and cold weather.
Bad, her birthday is always always always sweltering hot. I know I have lived it my whole life. I hated that it was so uncomfy to be out for long. You can only do so much in a pool. I hated that for awhile I'd only get school stuff since my (our) bday was so close to the start of school.
oh and I dislike our birthstone (peridot)
She was due 9-8-08 which would have put her closer to my brother's bday and have sapphire as a birthstone.
Oh and another con, always the smallest youngest in school. I would turn the same age as the rest of the kids just after school started. So I was always the youngest. I think AJ will be the same.

Re: What season/month was your child/children born in and pros/cons??
I've sworn after this pregnancy I'll never have a summer baby again. Well beggars can't be choosers but if I have a choice I won't do a summer birth again. The worst part is the heat. The maternity clothes in the summer are horrible, I don't want to show even an ankle at this point I'm so damn swollen everywhere.
I also feel bad because baby will have a summer birthday and will be one of those kids who has to smush their birthday party in school to a day at the end of June.
I'm born in January and I always loved the winter, got married in January as well. Next time I'm aiming from Dec-April....much easier.

B was born in June. It was hot but it wasn't miserable. We avoided flu season and he had a better immune system by the time fall rolled around.
This baby is due in September. A hot summer while pregnant. Not really ideal but I am just happy to be lucky enough to have another child. Beggars can't be choosers

DD#1 was born at the end of April and it was pretty much perfect. Great weather, the end of flu season etc. DD#2 is due the begginning of July and so far so good. We will see what is is like when she gets here.
