Has anyone's bank asked them for a contract extension?

Our on or about closing date was may 30th - and now the bank is saying they want a copy of a contract extension signed by both parties before they can fund the loan because to them contract is "expired"

Is this a normal request?
I thought you had 30 days grace period from your on or about closing date...

I feel like now it's going to take me a week just to get that/get it signed by everyone and it could cost us the tax credit

I will be contacting my attorney shortly
