you only need one. We left first thing in the morning and drove home after the 5pm parade.

I agree, you can definitely do it in 1 day. We went last year and stayed over 1 night. Got to the park on the first day around 10-11am (can't remember), stayed until maybe 4 or so and went back to the hotel b/c the kids were exhausted....went out to dinner.
Next morning we had a character breakfast booked, which was nice! Then we stayed at the park a few hours and drove home. We're in mid-Suffolk so the drive was a little longer, so the overnight did help, though it's not necessary.

We're going in July from Thurs to Sun but we're doing a half day at Sesame on Thurs, a full day on Fri, and then we're going to the Philadelphia Zoo on Sat. Home Sunday.

ONE day is all you need.
We stayed overnight the first time and the 2nd time we did it in one day.

Didnt realize could be done in same day.. thats awesome save money on hotel and dont have to worry about what girls will sleep in.

You definitely can do it in one but are planning on doing it again this summer in 2. DD's are 3 1/2 and 16 months and I think one day would be too much, especially for the little one who still naps 2x a day.
Last time we went, we drove in the am, did the park in the afternoon and stayed over. In the morning we did one of the breakfasts which was great since you get upclose with characters AND you get admission to the park before it is officially open for the day. That means no standing in line to get in the morning (which I have heard can be pretty long first thing in the morning). You also get to go on the rides before there are any lines (everyone else is still waiting on line to get in  ) Then we stayed up until about 3 when dd started to melt down. She slept almost the whole way home.
A little bit more expensive, but worth it in my opinion.

You really only need 1 day. We went last summer and they were having a Buy One Day get One Free so we stayed overnight, but it def could all be done in a day.
