If you have subway tiles in your bathroom. . .

What do you have on your floor?
esp. if you have white.
Same color? Tiny octagonal? B & W? Something other than tile?

I have had subay tiles in old apartments with very tiny floor tiles, but I don't really see those in bathrooms anymore & fear the millions of grout lines.

Big tiles seem too modern for suwbway tiles. Chat Icon

Any suggestions? Pictures?

I have a large b/w octagon pattern.

My bath is very large so the smaller tiles wouldn't have worked.

Pics in my album.

We had subway tiles in the house we just sold...we did white hex tiles on the floor with a few black tile flowers done into the floor, for a vintagey look.

Annienyc has longer, gray rectangular tiles laid in the sort of pattern you'd put a wood floor and it looks awesome, and a little more modern.

Ahhhhhhhhh! Soo many choices! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thank you all for the pics.

I think the overall look I had in mind was a cross between what Laurabora posted & CurlyQ's aqua room, but I love the basket weave marble too.

I love gray.

I had the octagon tiles with black in an old rental, so I think I want something different, but they are so classic.

I want classic, but not dated, if that makes sense.
I have a very tiny bathroom.

CurlyQ--what kind of counter top do you have in that room?

tourist, we were also trying to go for a classic look, even if the aqua paint is a little bright! My counter tops in both bathrooms are polished carrera marble. Good luck!

the possibilities are endless

we did subway tiels in master and guest bathroom

for master we used river rock on the shower floor and silver travertine on the floor of bathroom

for guest we used an iradecently blue green tile that has similar proportions to subway tile but larger - it goes with the glass tile stipe that we inlayed with the subway tile

Weird!! Let me know which you want to see!

Here is the aqua bath:

Marble master bath, subway tiles are in the shower.

Both have the polished carrera marble vanities, and both are in need of some finishing touches.

Thanks for the compliments!! The carrera marble floor in the master isn't slippery because it is honed and not polished... feels to me on foot like any other floor. I will try and post photos when I reply for now on! :)

Re: If you have subway tiles in your bathroom. . .

CurlyQ-I think you did accomplish classic. All the permanent stuff is classic you can really put any paint & accessories you want.

Question for those of you with marble--is it really expensive? I thought it wasn't practical for a bathroom? I saw a Corian color-rain cloud that had a marble pattern and didn't look obviously like Corian to me

And for those of you with tiny tiles-- is it difficult to keep the grout clean?

I know the general look I want (classic, white, maybe gray accents), which narrows it down a lot, but there are still so many choices. My friend has white crackle subway tile & it is gorgeous. Crackle! I didn't even know that was an option.

The bathroom I want to re-do is in my album ( peach walls) & the white one is my old bathroom that is sort of my inspiration, but in better shape ( an with a normal toilet)
