quick vaca - puerto plata or punta cana
i want to take DH & DD for fathers day for 5 days / 4 nights...
which do you recommend if you have been to both?
puerto plata is a lot cheaper then punta cana

I just booked a last minute vacation to the Dominican Republic. I researched all the areas. Punta Cana has a ton more hotels and the beaches have the clear blue carribean water and white sand. Puerto Plata's beaches are darker - they are on the Atlantic side. That's really the only difference between the two. They both have a wide variety of hotels - something for everyone.

Our travel agent recommended punta cana over puerto plata.

I went to puerto plata a few years ago and was not impressed with the beach. The water is def on the darker side. I've been told by many people that punta cana is the way to go so next time that where I'll be headed
