36 week appt last night and still no...

...internal!
Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I had heard from another girl on here who goes to my practice that they don't do them until 37 weeks but I made sure I was groomed (which is NO small task!) just in case.

But the Dr just reviewed my BPP, did a quick sono and that was it! Chat Icon

I was SOOOO glad.
I probably wont' get away as easy next week but I'll take every week I can get where I don't have to take my pants down! The thought of anyone up in there when I have all this pressure is just not very appealing to me!

LOL ahh I am dreading these. Even with the internal sonograms now, I feel so much pressure. The tech on Monday actually stopped and said "ARE YOU OKAY?!" because I made this terrified face. It doesn't hurt it just feels really wierd. I am NOT going to like internals.

Maybe you will go early and not need one! LOL

they aren't pleasant but when they are over, they are over. also, even if you go early you won't escape them...they do them often in the hospital!

Boooo! I hate the thought.
But some people say they are a breeze and painless while others say they are awful.
I guess everyone is different.

I just want them to leave my cha-cha alone right now! Chat Icon

Its not that bad!
I swear I was one who dreaded it too and then had one and only needed one and uh, it was done and over with.

I was like, ok..thank, not so bad.

Yeah I know that I need to toughen up because a silly little internal is NOTHING compared to what the birth will be.
But for some reason it's been on my mind for weeks now. I'm working myself up over nothing I am sure.

Re: 36 week appt last night and still no...

I had 2 internals the first time. The first one was a breeze. The second one wasn't your standard internal so it was... different from the first one, but it was still over quickly enough.

When I was at the hospital in labor, I remember the resident checked me and she determined that I was 7cm dilated, and then asked me how many children I had. When I told her that it was my first she decided she needed to check again because she couldn't believe I was so calm when I was that far along. I was like no, really - I'm sure you were right the first time, no need to go back there. Chat Icon But she did anyway.

And I was like Chat Icon I told you. Chat Icon

Re: 36 week appt last night and still no...

its not that they are painful, you just feel A LOT of pressure (at least for me)...
with DS my dr started internals at 32 weeks bc I was in L&D and they found i was already dilated/effaced.
this time around, i have been getting weekly internal sonos since i had my cerclage 17 weeks ago and have had internal exams about 3 times. i will take an internal sono a million times over the exam though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I KNEW I loved this practice!

I just feel like unless you are having contractions or issues of some kind- there is no need to go in there stirring things up so early.
Especially for me since the baby is still measuring small and needs more time to cooK!!

Am I the only weirdo who looks forward to the internal to see if I've made any progress? They really don't bother me at all and are done in 2 seconds!

I just don't WANT to make any progress at this point. She is still too small to come out so I want to be closed up tight and left alone for awhile!
As much as I am DONE with this pregnancy I know Chat Icon needs to cook a lot longer!

Yeah I'm with you on that. I had one at 30 weeks bc I was contracting. It didn't bother me at all. I am looking forward to them starting again at 36 weeks b/c I will hopefully be dilated or effaced.
