Any advice to transitioning out of crib?
My DS just turned 3 two weeks ago and we ordered him a new bed, a twin. It is already in (was kind of hoping it would take a while to come in, lol) it will be delivered on Tuesday, still need to get mattress though. But besides all that any advice for transitioning from the crib to a big boy bed? He sleeps so well in the crib and can climb out but never does (I think maybe in the past year). I wold love to keep in crib but he is now potty trained in the day and know he needs to be in big bed to train at night. TIA for any advice!!!!

Re: Any advice to transitioning out of crib?
honestly, my son was so excited to be in a big boy bed, there was no problem with transition at all. One day he was in a crib, the next day a bed, and he was as happy as could be..no adjustment needed, so maybe you will be just fine.

When DS went into his toddler bed, we did not have a problem. He loved it.

Re: Any advice to transitioning out of crib?
we transitioned both kids early.. with DS we started at 13 months and at 16 months we did the out of sight out of mind and it worked.
with DD we moved her at 8 months old... but with here it was easier because at that point the bed is all she knows.
we did find the out of sight out of mind trick to help with DS.
when we did the move we went straight to a twin.

Re: Any advice to transitioning out of crib?
We put DD into a full size and we made such a big deal about it before hand that she was really excited. Had no problems at all.

Try and find a sheet set with his favorite character/animal or whatever on them. As far as keeping him in bed all night? It can be tricky, I have yet to fully figure it out.

Re: Any advice to transitioning out of crib?
We set up his room with a firetruck theme (which he likes) and made a big deal out of it. Funny enough, we set up the room but werent going to transition him out of the nursery for another week or two but after walking by it and playing in there for only a few days, he asked to sleep in it and has never looked back! This kid loved his crib and never even tried to climb out so we were shocked. I'd say just make a huge deal of it and he might be excited!
