Haircut - yay or nay?
My hair is a bit curlier than hers, though not much, and I would not get short layers in the front (I've had that before and the shorter pieces are too hard to control).
This is my hair now (a bit longer, this was almost two months ago):

I am somewhere in the middle-I think the curly side bang would look awesome, but I agree with Shorty that the length with the style could be a little too old. I would bring up the length slightly and definitely do the cute curly side bang!
If you want to do it, I really think you can pull it off.

I love the current cut on you - I agree with the PPs who say it may add years.
Does your hair highlight naturally in the summer? If so you could probably approximate that color with only 2 highlighting sessions a year. You totally deserve that ;)
