I need to find a great new baby gift
My friend recenty had a new baby (her 3rd, but 1st DS). I'm looking for something really nice/thoughtful to give her. When my DDs were born, she gave me a hand knitted bunting for DD1 and a Lenox ornament for DD2. So I want to give her something along the lines of those two, but not the SAME...kwim?
Any ideas or suggestions?

My friend made me a quilt for my DD that goes with the decor in her room - it's my favorite gift. If you're not crafty (and I'm certainly not), there are plenty of Etsy vendors that you can commission for this. If you're short on time for something handmade, I also received a blanket for DD with her name in it that was not handmade, but just commissioned and I don't think it took that long. I can check the tag for the vendor if you like - it came with a brochure and I know they have a website. FM me if you want me to check.

For my past three friends who have given birth I have given personalized step stools with a few books and a teddy bear. The step stool is personalized the correct way, then the entire thing is flipped over to use as a basket. I put some tissue paper on the bottom and then the books and a small bear. Wrap in cellophane paper with ribbon and a card. The gift has gotten rave reviews.

*My friend got me a pillow embroidered with his name & birth stats, I loved it.
*I got little shoes with all of his information on it
*A gorgeous baby book
I also got a mini radio flyer filled with books and I have to say it was one of my favorite gifts.

how about one of those silver keepsake sets for the babys first haircut, first tooth, etc.
i got 2 of those which are really nice.
I also got some really nice crocheted blankets, a hand made quilt, baby books to fill in, a personalized train bank.

I love those personalized blankets on Etsy with the funky fabric.... some of my fav gifts were trumpette socks, personalized baby photo album, my ultimate favorite- storage basket filled with baby books
