Start time for a 4th of July Party
Looking for a little help. We are having a 4th of July party and I am debating a start time...1pm or 3pm. I don't mind if people come and go to party hop. We have a pool and the beach is a few houses a way so people can go there for fireworks. I do not plan on having fireworks. So, what time would you start your party?

we do this every year, too. our house is in a lake community and they set off the fireworks right at the lake. fireworks start at 9, so we usually tell people to come at 3 to hang out, have some food.. most people usually don't come until like 5 or 6 though, closer to dinner time.

If you plan on feeding people as part of lunch then 1-2pm. Otherwise 3pm.

IMO, if you think people will want to hang around long enough to see the fireworks at the beach, a later start time is better.

Thanks everyone. Even if I have it start at 1...I am planning on treating it like an Open house so I will have continuous food and drinks a plenty!

Re: Start time for a 4th of July Party
Trust me...start it at 1:00 so that everyone is there by 3:00. I guarantee that is you invite people for 3:00, you won't have everyone there until like 5:00.
We have a 4th of July party every year. We start it at 1:00 and usually the first guest arrives at like 1:45 because people don't want to be early for a BBQ.

Re: Start time for a 4th of July Party
we have several BBQ's all summer & since we have the lake we usually start at 1:00. I serve the main food around 2:00 so there's still plenty of time to hang out at the lake. Then we cook burgers, hot dogs & sausages the rest of the day in case anyone came later or is still hungry. We usually roast marshmellows as it starts to get dark then everyone leaves unless they want to come back down to the beach for the fireworks.
