I don't know why but I'm not the slightest bit freaked out. I'm above Penn Station so our building is considered a target for a terrorist attack.
Non-explosive fertilizer was used which to me means, not very well thought out or researched. So I'm going with the lone 'gunman' theory & not a bright guy to boot.

I agree.. i'm usually the first to freak out when there's something going on at Penn or the subways (i'm super claustrophobic and HATE going thru the tunnel every day on the LIRR)
But this didn't bother me at all.. i think because it was so amateurish, and not a large scale plot.
Those of us that work or live in the city have to deal with the constant threat that something can happen at any minute.. but the only way to deal with it is to just keep on living your life.
i'm so glad that street vendor said something to the cops and they did such a good job in containing the area and not causing mass panic.

I am just worried that maybe this was some sort of "test run" to see how the NYPD would respond, and that another "REAL" bomb is on the way.

it's not just the NYPD responding though. it's the FBI and the USAO-SDNY....as well as every other law enforcement agency in the Fed govt here in NYC.
they caught a suspect thanks to the joint terrorism task force.
will it happen again? it's pretty much a certainty.
will we always be so lucky in terms of efficacy of the perp? most likely not.
but we have a GREAT team in our law enforcement here. highy undervalued and they really work their asses off and are some of the best and brightest in the country, if not the world.
kudos for their swift work here!!!

I work in the city and everday I see troopers with rifles I am reminded of the world we live in. I pray a lot that is all I can do and not live in fear. Honestly it was bound to happen and I am sure there will be more attempts unfortunately hopefully they remain just that...attempts.
