Brazilian Keratin ?

I had the Brazilian Keratin done 2 years ago and was thinking of getting it done this summer BUT...

I'm afraid of the formaldehyde (sp?). I know it's cosmetic grade and not full on, but as soon as she started putting the stuff on my hair, my throat got scratchy. I thought maybe it wasn't ventilated well enough, but then every time I blew it out it would get scratchy again for like 3 months! (less and less each time)

I know others people who had it done and it never bothered them. Maybe I'm just sensitive. I get a little scratchy when I use nail polish remover too so maybe I'm just a wimp lol

Anyone else get a sore throat from it?

TIA

Re: Brazilian Keratin ?

Japanese completely straightens it. I know some people with nice thick hair that it works great for. I think they also went to a good place that knows what they are doing.

My hair isn't so thick lately so I'm affraid to get JS. My mom and sister have had it done for years and their hair isnt so thick and it just doesn't look healthy.

I like to be able to flip the ends up and I was able to do that with BS.

Re: Brazilian Keratin ?

There are keratin treatments that do not use any chemicals. I had it done about 2 months ago. You only have to leave it in 1 day before you can wash it out. I would look into it

Re: Brazilian Keratin ?

But they don't last as long if they don't have the chemicals, right?

Re: Brazilian Keratin ?

hmmm, it actually does not staite if it has formaldyhyde or not...
I did type c at hair club ib

At Hair Club I.B. we have three different types of Brazilian Keratin Treatment. Type A, Type B, and Type C.

Type A is a brand called "Hair Go Straight" and the price is from $100(any hair length), and more of Type A information is on our "notice board #4".

Type B is a brand called "Lasio" and the price is from $140-$160 and the features for it are the same as Type A, but Type B does NOT contain any formaldehyde.

Our new Type C, is totally different from our other original brands that we have been using. The other BKT we have been using straightens the hair 80%-95% but our new BKT type C straightens the hair 95% and up(for african-american hair/90% and up), and has alot more shine to it. Not only does it straighten your hair more, but it also last longer than the other products, and during the process alot less smoke and smell is produced so it is alot easier for the customers and us to do the process. And another feature the new BKT features is that, unlike other BKT products you do not have to wait a day to 3 days to wash the product out, we wash it out right after the process is done, and can see the results of it before you leave. And since we wash it out right away, there is no need to worry about stickiness or greasiness for the next few days. The new BKT comes out like you have gotten the Japanese Hair Straightening done, and has as much shine to it as the JHS.

Our new BKT product, Type C, is found nowhere else in the U.S. and can only be found here at our salon, Hair Club I.B. As soon as we have got this product at our salon, everybody who have had it done, has been very happy with it, and really recommends it to people. The price for it is from $170-$190(cut excluded), and in some cases if you have very long thick hair it can go up to $210, you will never see the results of this New Brazilian in any other places its AMAZING !!!~ ( If you already tried getting BKT at other salon and didnt like the results come by and try TYPE C !!!!
YOU WILL LOVE IT =)

Thank You
Hair Club I.B.

Re: Brazilian Keratin ?

the type C looks really good....hmmmm I wasn't planning on going there

I am going in a few weeks to get it done

I normally do JHS- but my hair needs a break and I love how it's growing back with body (this is the longest I have ever gone with out getting it done)

I also had a lot of breakage with JHS- I have been doing it since 2002- so it's time for a change

Go there! They were telling me JHS causes a lot of breakage and most women have turned to keratin now.

I did type C .I have long hair b/w bra strap and butt and they charged me 190. When they saw my hair wet and curly they said i would only get it straight about 70% which i I was completely fine w that since i mainly wanted it for the frizz(my hair is super tight and curly like sarah jessica parker in the older days)and i only expected to get it straight 50%.

Its so soft and smooth and shiny now. My hair is about 80% straight.

Im a professional in straightening my hair but it went from 35 minutes to now 15 minutes. Its not flat either so i have already worn it straight, bouncy with loose curls , and gelled and curly (now its wavy curly)..

Thanks. I meant where are they locatd, but I googled lol. Flushing. That works.

I think I'm going to call them. The price sounds good too. My hair is about shoulder length so it should't be too much.

Re: Brazilian Keratin ?

The "Type C" you can get at other salons. My sis and I have been getting it done for years in the city until we started doing it at home. The brand we use is Agi Max.

Unfortunately, they have chemicals in them. That's what makes them work. The idea of a chemical free permanent change to your hair is too good to be true--and it is. Putting chemicals into contact with your head/skin/scalp has undeniable risks that aren't worth it IMO.

Many of the ones that claim to be formaldehyde free have other compounds in them that are similar--and untested. It's an inconvenient truth.
