We are doing a video monitor because I wanted to be able to see the baby as well as hear her during the night and when she naps.
I registered for the
Summer Infant Complete Coverage Video Monitoring System. With the two monitors both the hand held and tv style monitor.

We went with the Summer Infant Best View Handheld Color Video Monitor
We did a video monitor for these reasons:
1. When my mom is watching the baby she will need it since she lives in a 2 floor house. Easier for her to see whats wrong instead of trying to decipher by the cry.
2. We go away alot on the weekends in the summer time. At night all the adults hang out in the back of the house outside. The bedrooms are all on the 2nd floor in the front of the house.
3. All my BTDT moms have video ones, so I went based on their recommendations as far as brand goes & automatically went video.

is this the digital one? this is the one we got. its pricey but well worth it. Digital is important if there are other monitors in the area - analog can interfere and you can pick up other monitors. Also, this one scans and has color video  (and audio)

We went with the summer video monitor as well. We live in a one-level 2 bedroom condo so there's no doubt that I'll hear  when she cries. I was more interested in being able to see her without having to go into the room and wake her up.

Crashing here, but we have this and it's the BEST! Been using it for almost 11 months now. It's the best thing ever!
