Wanna know how I met my boyfriend?

I was drunk.

Just - black out DRUNK.

(Let the judging begin!)

But from the stories that he tells, I learned that I had initially given my number to the guy that he was out with and then I decied that I liked HIM. I told him to call me and when he asked for my number, I had the drunken balls to say, "Get it out of your friend's phone."

Yeah, I'm a jerk.

I gave it to him, kissed him - out of no where, took him by the back of the neck and made him kiss me - and walked out of the bar.

He called me the next day and introduced himself as the sober one. I asked him if he had standards and then he asked me to dinner.

I'd forgotten what he looked like. Minutes before meeting him for our first date, I called the girl who I'd been out with that night. She said he was very cute. And she was very right.

I didn't drink again in front of him for a month.

The end. I am not romantic.

That story was AWESOME.

I was drunk as well when I met my DH.

We pre-gamed before getting to the bar that night, my brother and sister and friends. Was just up in NY on vacay, not looking for anything but a good time.

DH told me years later he watched me stumble into the club, pay to get in and hand over my jacket, and stumble again up the steps. I'm sure it was love at first sight.

My brother knew DH - they worked together - and he came out that night cause my brother told him we were going to a club cause both my sister and I were from OOT.

Totally caught my eye when I was introduced, and he bought me a drink, we wound up grinding on the dance floor, and then making out in the corner. I still can't believe he called me the next day for a date.

I met dh when we went out with a group of mutual friends and all got drunk!

My bff was dating his roomate, so him and his guy friends came out, and us and our girlfriends came out, we went to the city, started at the bars then ended up at Polyesters (who remembers that joint ?it was off the chain). Anyway dh (then unknown brooding guy) was SO not into that music, he is SO not a club guy, but went just because that's where we ended up. He sat at the bar and got ripped, me and the girls danced the night away and also got ripped, and all cabbed it to their apt in brooklyn.

He didn't speak more than 2 words to me that night and I didn't know he was alive But months later he came down to the beach by me with our 2 mutual friends and we hung out the whole night and the rest is history.

btw the 2 mutuals got married 5 years before us

I'm seeing alcohol as a trend here.

For the sake of brevity, because it's a really long story, I'll just say that I was looking for a website that published short story submissions, since I had one. I clicked on the first website in my search, clicked on the first section that caught my eye, clicked on the first story that caught my eye, and read a story that I enjoyed. I clicked on the author's bio and it turned out that his first name was one of my nicknames (Rusty), he went to Boston U and I had just gotten back from a vacation there, and he lived in NY.

I clicked on the link to send feedback and told him I liked his story. I didn't know his age, where he lived, anything. We corresponded via email for 2 weeks. Then talked on the phone every day for another 2 weeks. Met in person, finally, on his birthday February 5th, 1999 and have been together ever since.

If just one of the choices I made on the path to us meeting had been different, who knows what would have happened. That thought scares me sometimes!

DH was my bus driver !

I was riding on his bus for 5 weeks before we said anything more than good morning and have a nice day.
I always sit up front and one day we just started chatting. I told him that I started riding his bus because my regular driver Gino had gotten hurt and was out, and that the replacement drivers were not good. DH's bus went to 6th Ave and I usually rode the 3rd Ave bus, a little walking didn't hurt me if it meant I got to work on time.
After I got off the bus that day, he called Gino to get the scoop on me.
Next morning I get on the bus and DH says to me : Good Morning Susi. I looked at him and said : Good morning Mike.
His jaw dropped, he thought he had one up on me by knowing my name.
But I had one up on him by knowing all about him. Gino's wife rode on Mike's bus.
Then I asked him what time he does the evening trip, because my driver was about 150 years old and drove slower than slow. I would walk up to 6th Ave to catch his bus. As I got off the bus, Mike gave me his cell number and told me to call him if I was going to catch his bus. He'd look out for me to make sure I didn't miss it. I called him and he actually picked me up on 3rd Ave and 35th street on his way up to the first stop on 6th Ave !
We chatted some more until people got on the bus, then got quiet. As I got off the bus, I gave him my cell number.
Next morning he asked me if I was going to ride with him that evening and I said yes. Repeat of the previous day, except this time he asked me to dinner.

Here we are 6 years later.

haha...great story! I've met some ex BFs drunk...but DH was a blind date...he lived in Israel for work (he's Catholic & from Montana..go figure?) but traveled to the US often...he described himself as big, fat, bald & ugly (no pic)...i had no expectations at all

Our first date was in NYC where i worked at the time..i knocked on his hotel room door praying "please God..don't let him be so ugly I'd be grossed out at the thought of kissing him"...when the door opened a handsome guy with green eyes & a beautiful smile answered. We had a great time out & about in the city and had our first kiss in the middle of Penn Station before i caught my train home. We had a 2nd date the next nite...after that date I knew I'd marry him. Many months of long distance dating & seeing each other maybe once a month...then 9/11 happened & his Mom encouraged him to move back to the US since she worked for the Govnt...we dated...moved in together, got engaged after dating 4.5 yrs & got married right around our 6 year anniversary...coming up on our 3yr wedding anniversary & wouldn't change a thing!

That is a GREAT story!!!

I met my DH at work. We both worked for corporate America and our departments would go to happy hour with each other each week - DH and I would get dirrrrrty on the dance floor. Almost every week without fail we would go to 56th for HH, then to Savannah on 110 (or Origin or Ice or whatever the hell it was called), then to The Oasis (strip club) in Smithtown. Good times, good times.

DH and I met in college....

We lived in the same dorm...but he was a year under me..so being the cougar (drunk one too ) I am I pounced on him in a bar one night bc I thought he was a hottie....

The rest is history!

The long or the short version?

Short: We were acquaintances in college, then lived 7 blocks from each other, saw each others at parties & such with mutual friends .

I had an epiphany on Happy Hour Tuesday with my roommate & then a few days later at a random gathering of friends & acquaintances, drunkenly professed this revelation to my really shy, but also drunk, husband, made out excessively in public & left together.

Great stories! I met a few ex's in a stupor, but not DH...got in a stupor on our first date though! At least that's his version.

We met on-line...maybe Yahoo personals (I was on a few sites, LOL). Anyway, since we first chatted on-line, almost 6 yrs ago, a day hasn't gone by where we haven't spoken. And I pushed for date #3 so I could jump his bones!

We played softball together for a few seasons and we were both in relationships. Our softball team would hang out a lot and drink and BBQ. We ended up spending a lot of time talking and drunk talking at these team BBQs. He broke up with his gf and I eventually broke up with my bf shortly after. We started hanging out as friends and were immediately attracted to each other and have literally been inseparable ever since. We became official in November 2008 and are still madly in love.

we met at college thru mutual friends. My girlfriends and I were friends with some of DH's friends and we would all hangout together. Anyways, one of my friends was extremely into him and ended up having a one night stand. I hated him for using her. She ended up leaving school at the end of the year. Next year rolls around and DH and I would always end up at the same parties, one night we were dancing togehter and ended up kissing (drunk of course). We went home together that night and had our first official date two weeks later. Been together ever since.

Short(er) version - at an after-party following a corporate challenge race in Central Park. I was getting a drink at the bar and DH came over to chat. I found out later that:

a.) he came over on a dare - some guy claiming to be a co-worker approached him and a friend and had a conversation about not meeting anyone and how do you do it, wouldn't believe you just go up and say "Hi" as DH told him, and this guy dared DH to "go talk to her" as he pointed at me.

b.) he waited until I'd paid for my drink because too many times he'd walked over to someone, paid for her drink and had her say "thanks" and walk away.

We ended up spending the rest of the evening talking (he paid for the drinks the rest of the night) and he never did see that guy again. The next day at work he and his buddy tried to find this guy but they never saw him at work despite the fact that he claimed to work on the same floor.

I always tell him it was one of God's Angels that told him to go talk to me - he always counters with the response that it was a Demon from He!!

DH and I went to college together. We actually met during my first semester b/c I was dating a friend of his. My BF at the time and DH were in the same a cappella group. BF and I broke up after a few months, but we always remained friends. DH became one of my good friends, but I didn't think of him romantically until the summer after my sophomore year. I think it was the first time the two of us were single at the same time. We were chatting online a lot, and I had even gone out to LI to go to Jones Beach with him one day, but it was "platonic." He was pretty shy about asking girls out, so one night when we were chatting, I told him I had feelings for him, and he told me the same! A couple of days later, we were at my original college BF's graduation party, and were trying not to let on that we were into each other, b/c we didn't want our mutual friends to catch wind of it (BTW, ex-BF had already told me a couple of weeks before to go for Brad!).

We went on a first date about a week later, to Central Park. We had our first kiss on the rowboats. It was weird at first, b/c we had been friends for 2 years, but we managed to transition pretty easily.

This was June 1999. I was going to Israel for four weeks, so I didn't want to start anything serious. It didn't really matter, b/c we wrote letters that whole month and I even called him a few times. When I landed at JFK at 5:05 am on July 28th, he surprised me by meeting me at the airport with my family. He had three roses - one representing him, one representing me, and one representing our future together...and he officially asked me to be his girlfriend. The rest is history.

DH and I met through his sister who I worked with, but she was sneaky about it. I do a lot of singing and at one point was doing a lot of competitions, she told me that she wanted to come watch one, so she came and brought her bro...I was in a sticky relationship situation at the time, and I made sure he knew all about it. He said that I couldn't scare him This is the breakdown:

(1) Met August 25th 2007
(2) First real date November 1 2007
(3) Moved in together February 1st 2008
(4) Engaged May 17 2008
(5) Purchased house August 29 2008 (1 year and 4 days after meeting)
(6) Married June 13, 2009

This June it will be One year Married and This August we will have been in our house two years and known each other 3 years Such a short time in relation to the rest of my life, but I can't remember what it was like without him
