new make up wearer needs HELP
I will be the first to admit- I know nothing about make up
I am good with eye make up- as long as it's not eye liner- I avoid that
now- I normally wear tinted moisturizer and blush
I feel like my skin looks dry
I want a more dewy look on my cheeks
any suggestions? I don't need to the exact color- I can go to the mall for that (must be a make up counter- I need that much help lol)

Re: new make up wearer needs HELP
If you have dry skin, use a regular moisturizer under your tinted moisturizer.
If you want dewy cheeks, look for a cream blush like NARS cream blush or Stilla convertable color or a cheek stain (Tarte, Benefit) & a highlighter, like Benefit Moon Beam or High Beam ( stole this tip from LipGlossJunky)
Or, you could get a powder blush that has a little sheen to it, like the Mac Mineralize Duos or Nars O rgasm
I'm not sure the best place to go (other than Sephora), if you just want to hit one counter for blush & highlighter.

Re: new make up wearer needs HELP
I think you might need to amp up your moisturizer if you feel your skin looks dry.
I just started using Hope in a Jar-- the spf version and I feel like that definitely helps.
I also recently switched to Mac Studio Sculpt foundation and I really like it-- and it gives my face a finish that I wasn't getting with regulatr liquid foundation.
I never have had any luck with tinted moisturizer.

Re: new make up wearer needs HELP
Also, is your tinted moisturizer oil free? I tried oil free ones & they just sunk into my pores, making my skin look all dry & uneven.

I need to check on that
I actually think it's my pores- not that my skin looks dry
I feel like it's making my pores look bigger
but I think the cream blush will help- I am always happy till I put the blush on
it was so much easier when I just went tanning and didn't wear make up!

Re: new make up wearer needs HELP
also, check out Benefits High Beam, for that "dewy look". Its really fool proof. You put your regular blush on, and then the high beam. The applicator is like a nail polish brush and you just "paint" a line on your cheekbones and then blend....its impossible to screw up.
To add to the dewy look if you want a more all over.....try Benefits Posie tint. Same applicator as above and I just make an X on the apples of my cheeks and blend it in. Fool proof!
I use both of them, after my blush goes on. They are both sheer enough, so you dont look like a clown from putting it on after your blush.
Also, for a base, if you dont want to do a heavy foundation....try Cliniques "almost makeup" I have sworn by it for years. My face is really dry so most foundation looks like hell on me. This is heavier than a tinted moisturizer, but lighter than foundation and doesnt settle on dry patches and its very creamy so you look fresh faced with it.

The Clinique counter might be a good place to start. They make a cream blush too.

I just ordered a bunch of stuff...I will update once I get it and experiment
I got the high beam
a Nars Laguna bronzer (wasn't loving mine)
and NARS ****** Illuminator- not really sure what to do with this- but it sounded good....any tips would be great!
I am not sure if I am going to continue with the TM since I am getting more color in my face now that's it's spring

Re: new make up wearer needs HELP
Bobbi Brown makes a great cheek stain that comes in a tub I love it so much better than my powder blush. If you want a dewy look on your cheeks just try a little highlighter on the top of your cheekbones. They make liquid ones and powder ones. I find the powder ones to be a little more subtle. You have great skin so I don't think you need a heavy foundation the tinted moisturizer is just fine
