Hair help needed

I have natural dark brown hair and lots o blonde highlights that I love.

However, I just had a baby and we are very strapped on $$$. My roots are really in and I look ridiculous.

So here are my questions-

1. Is there any hair dyes that wash out completely so I can try it out before I commit? If I can find a way, I prefer blonde.

2. Any affordable ideas to stay blonde? My neighbor offered to do cap highlights with hair bleach, but something tells me this is a bad idea since my roots are very dark and my ends are very processed. I am scared it will break and/or fall out.

DO NOT let your neighbor do your hair..

unless she's a hairsylist.. but from your post it didn't sound like it.

I would probably just dye it a darker shade and be done with it..

I've tried to go lighter before myself and I just end up with orange hair My hair is also brown, more of a medium shade, and it doesn't take lighter colors well at all.

Honestly, Mich, I would go darker. I think you'll look amazing
