We can't really go to them, I am a retail manager so is DH so its rare we have a weekend off let alone together - I happen to be off next weeked though so I will be keeping my eyes peeled...
Were the houses you went to bad??

no, not bad, just so many to look at!
they were trying to book as many open houses this weekend as possible, in order for people to meet tax credit deadline.
i hear you: i work every other weekend, and i don't trust DH to look at homes, so I do, even if he is working. I call him the "benefactor" and I work on his behalf

we had one yesterday - my REA said it was National Open House weekend. Not sure if this is an annual event or just, like you said, to get in before the tax credit deadline.
We are pretty hesistant about OHs. We get a lot of traffic without them, so we just don't see the need, but we did anyway. My REA came from another house and said there wasn't ONE person that came in. I was pretty pesimistic, but at the end she said we had a lot of people and 4 potential bidders!

Way too many to look at this weekend. None of them are ever more than 2 hours so we end up having to pick and choose which we will go see. Today we have 7

My cousin had an open house in Wantagh this weekend and it was only like 1 1/2 hours...is that unusual? I thought most were 3-4 hours? If anyone is interested in a link to her house, let me know. She's in Wantagh, but the Levittown school district. Ranch house - not too updated, but in good condition with a very nice sized backyard. (She grew up in the house and she's almost 60 now). Her daughter is graduating high school in June, so they most likely won't be able to get out of the house until July at the earliest.
