9 days in Spain?

DH and I are looking to take a weeklong trip in the fall (most likely Sept/Oct)

I think we're leaning away from a tropical vacation, and were considering Spain

How many cities can we reasonably do in ~ 9 days? What are the must-see cities? Is this a good time of year to go?

(We did 2.5 weeks in Rome/Florence/Venice/Paris last year as a 1 year anniv trip)

over 2 weeks we did Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla and Oporto in Portugal.

we are very used to bopping from city to city though and have no issues keeping a fast pace.

it really depends on how much you want to travel. the train system is pretty good, and flights to the major cities aren't too expensive either.

I would take AT LEAST 2-3 days in each city, so limit it to 3.

Over two weeks we did Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, Marbella (Costa Del Sol) and Lisbon in Portugal.

If I had to skip any part of it I would skip Madrid. Just a preference but I am not a fan of big cities, I like a more cozy feel.

If you can fit in a city in Portugal I would, it was gorgeous

you must do Barcelona!

Even though DH is from Madrid, I'm not a huge fan of it from a tourist perspective

I also love the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, etc) - if you want some sun and water. It's also a really interesting combination of Spanish and Italian cultures.

lisbon costa del sol and barcelona are musts...but i think thats a tad much for 9 days.

maybe lisbon- sevilla and marbella for 9 days- 3 nights in each
