Can someone explain something to me...RE bikini waxing

Ok I have never been waxed in that area.

I have shaved since forever and never really minded it BUT since I had DD my hair is much more coarse and I just can;t get the smooth, clean shave I used to.

Someone explain to me exactly what happens. Like...your totally naked down there? Is it like going to the gyno with stirrups? I mean, do you just lay on a table and spread eagle?!!?!? Isn't it weird to be laying there while they do that?

Srsly...I want SPECIFICS and all the gory details. LOL.

I can;t believe I am asking this HAHA.

ETA
how long does it last?

Re: Can someone explain something to me...RE bikini waxing

i've only done it 2 or 3 times and i was the same way when i first had it done for my wedding 2 years ago! i had NO idea!

for me at least, i left my underwear on and laid on the table. she had me pull the 2 sides of my underwear together to expose as much of the area and hair that i wanted waxed off. i pulled the sides together just enough to leave a "landing strip" as they say, but that nothing more private was exposed, if you know what i mean! then i bent each leg as she waxed that area. she also had me pull down from the waist in case i wanted more from the top area taken off. it probably took about 10-15 minutes, if i remember correctly to make sure she got everything! it was a little painful at first, but nothing you can't get over and depending on how much hair or how coarse it is, it could hurt more or less. i did have a little bleeding once bc i had gone too long in between. my lady told me to come every 4-6 weeks. I was so nervous at first too! The first woman I went to was awful and had me on all 4's and totally naked. It was a nightmare! Now, I usually go to Bliss and start-to-finish it takes about 20 minutes. I've also been to Red Door and it took about 40. (Edited: I only do Brazilian.)

I put on a little papery thong-type thing and lay on a table. To get to the bits and pieces, the waxer usually has me either hold my legs up (like bring my knees to my chest) or swing one leg over the other. Once they asked me to turn over on my back.

I honestly don't think it hurts. It's not pleasant, but any discomfort only lasts a few seconds. For me, the worst is when she takes out the tweezers to get any strays or ingrown hairs, but I still wouldn't say it "hurts" at all.

Re: Can someone explain something to me...RE bikini waxing

I have only had brazilians, not regular ones. I don't get them anymore but at the time, I was naked down there, spread eagle.

After about 5 minutes when the pain kicks in, I didn't care about being embarrassed. I think it hurts a lot!

I haven't had one since having DD, but I think I'd be less embarrassed now since I feel like so many people (people = doctors) have seen my va jay jay Chat Icon

Re: Can someone explain something to me...RE bikini waxing

i havent gotten one since i moved to FL :(

i used to get brazilians done in NY. i would wear the disposable undies (they would ask if i wanted them) everytime - i never wanted to risk getting wax on my own clothes...i would put them on and sit on the table and wait for her to come back. when she waxed she moved the undies around and waxed the exposed part. then would move them again and again and again until she got everything. sometimes i would pull my skin tight for her as she pulled. i never had to go on all fours or lay on my stomach - i only put my legs to the side and up a little while i was laying on my back - and she got EVERYTHING...either she was really good or i'm not that hairy? i always got REALLY sweaty from waxing, i guess from the pain. and i'd be a little tender. next day any tenderness was always gone.

Re: Can someone explain something to me...RE bikini waxing

I've been getting brazilians for the past 7 years, but have only had 2 people actually work on me but the experience was the same.

I remove my clothing from the bottom half (I leave socks on if I'm wearing them), panties included and lay on the table (it's a massage table with paper on it like the doctor's office...no stir-ups. Chat Icon )

I open my legs to a comfortable position so she can reach the insides. She starts by dusting powder over the areas she will be waxing. Next she waxes the front and accessible areas/parts, tweezes what ever was missed, then I raise my legs up so she can get the "underside". When waxing is done, she uses a lotion to help remove any wax residue. I get up, get dressed, tip her and then head to the desk to pay. Chat Icon

I'm usually out of there in 15 minutes. Pain is minimal for me. I think anticipation is what does most girls in.

400-600 mg of Ibuprofen makes a difference both during and after (take 30-45 minutes prior to your appointment.)

If you're pregnant, you're likely to be more sensitive in that region (and I can attest to that), plus you can't take ibuprofen, only Tylenol (acetaminophen) which I don't think works as well as an anti-inflammatory.

Re: Can someone explain something to me...RE bikini waxing

I did it a few times, totally nude from waist down. I hated the pain. I hated having to let it grown in. Didn't last long enough for me to keep doing it.

Re: Can someone explain something to me...RE bikini waxing

I have only been to one place and she is fabulous. 7 minutes from start to finish and I had the Brazilian done. I was nude from the waist down.

You lay on the table and bring one leg up in a flat triangle if that makes sense and then she does the other the same way.

She is in Oceanside if you want to go. She is funny and will make you so comfortable.

Re: Can someone explain something to me...RE bikini waxing

If it is a bikini wax (not brazilian) you can keep your underwear or get disposable ones.

She would ask you to move/shift the underwear to what you want to expose/being waxed. You would move that leg out (like spread eagle with 1 leg). Then she goes to the other side and do the same.

For brazilian (EVERYTHING REMOVE FRONT AND BACK!!!), you will be naked from waist down, spread eagle and sometimes on all 4.

Another question: How long does it last? Is it worth it if your hair grows very fast?

Re: Can someone explain something to me...RE bikini waxing

I have been getting bikini waxes every 6 weeks for 10 years. About 7 years ago I started with Brazilian and now that's all I get.

For non-Brazilian, you leave your underwear on. You may need to shift them depending on how deep the waxer is going. You are on the same table you are on when you get your eyebrows done.

For Brazilian, again, its the same table. I am usually at the end so my legs dangle off. You are totally naked from the waist down. They take off everything- and I mean everything. Most places will also do your butt. You will have to move your leg in different positions to get everything, including holding your knees up. You can leave strip or triangle if you like.

It is definitely worth it to me. It lasts a long time and the more you do it, the thinner your hair gets.
