Restoring an old chair.
I found a great chair in the garbage today (no shame in my game.) It looks like it has a couple of coats of paint on it already. Should I just prime and then paint or doe it need to be sanded?
Also, the cushion definitely needs new fabric. Any idea where I can get fabric online and one of those heavy duty staple guns?
TIA!!

I would definitely sand and prime it first, the paint will adhere better.
Try searching etsy under supplies for fabric. There are tons of sellers with remnants of really cool fabric patterns,

Re: Restoring an old chair.
You might want to try a paint remover too! It might get the hard to sand area better. If its a small amount of fabric you need you might want to check Joann's (in store) they have remnants and you might be able to find what you want really cheap.

Re: Restoring an old chair.
I just did this with an accent table, I used a palm sander (made life so much easier) to get all of the paint off, then repainted. If you want to go for a distressed look you have to paint then coat with the gel and keep rubbing the gel off with a rag until you get the look you want.

Re: Restoring an old chair.
I just reupholstered my dining room chairs this week! I went onto fabric.com for the fabric. It was on clearance and I did all 6 chairs for $25 in fabric! I got it within 4 days. I bought the Stanley electric staple/brad nail gun at Target and it was a piece of cake to use. This is the first time I've ever done a project like this and the chairs came out beautiful.
