Have you ever returned a mattress?

We bought our KingKoil from sleepys a bit over 4 years ago. We have rotated it, added pads, etc, and we are still waking up sore. We know there is a certain amount of sagging that is allowed, but it's only been 4 years. Can a mattress need replacing that soon?

Re: Have you ever returned a mattress?

Its probably a moot point honestly, since Sleepys has a 21 day return policy.

Re: Have you ever returned a mattress?

we are working on getting a new mattress under the 15 year warranty.

I needed the original receipt (8 years old - I am so happy I don't throw away paperwork!!) and the tag on the bed.

If you look at your mattress company's site, there were different conditions that applied.

I'm hoping that I'm successful!

Do you mind sharing what brand?

I also saved all of the information. I have learned to keep big ticket receipts. Chat Icon

Re: Have you ever returned a mattress?

It is so funny. I read the subject and I said to myself "I bet this person has a King Koil"
Anyway, I too had a King Koil that was sagging. It had a warantee and I called the company. I had to prove I was the originally owner and they came to the house to "inspect" the mattress. Turns out, it was defective and we got credit to the store we bought it in. Needless to say, the next mattress was a different brand. I have heard from countless ppl about KK problems.

I wish I could - we bought a mattress from them a little over 3 yrs ago - we went with the sleepys brand b/c we really wanted the pillow top mattresses that are popular now but you can flip so now the thing has 2 dips where we lay. Its awful. I don't think I'll buy from their brand again...

I have. I ordered the firm Bob-o-pedic and it was like sleeping on the sidewalk...we traded it for the plush

I think the industry standard for "defective" is 1.25 inches. If your mattress is 1.25 inches lower in the middle than on the sides, it's considered a returnable sagging problem. Less than that, it's not. I've heard that when you want to return a mattress, guys come over to inspect it and actually break out the ruler.

Re: Have you ever returned a mattress?

I would think you would get two measuring sticks and have a string between them, that way you could visually see the dip and measure it. At least, that is how I would do it.

Re: Have you ever returned a mattress?

Yes, they used a string! Also, they checks that the mattress was on the correct box spring.frame and also for stains (eeewwww!)
For the record, our mattress didn't have stains but it still sagged.

It there is any staining on the mattress you probably will not be able to return it.

I have a Nature's rest and it isn't suppose to sag. I spoke to sleepy's because the mattress has 15 year warranty and they told me if there is any staining the warranty was void. We never put a mattress protector, and I never thought my post pardum night sweats would create such a mess.
