how many months did u spend looking?
when you bought your first home?
they keep saying there's so much on the market? Just curious how long the process was for others...

When we looked in Suffolk, we literally looked over hundred houses and took us over 8 months. We were very picky though! Out of all these houses, we put in offers on 3 houses. The first house fell through because the pool didn't have a CO and we weren't comfortable with that. The second house fell through because the extension in the back of the house did not have CO and didn't look legit. The third house had wet basement so we pulled out.

We started in Jan-09 and signed contracts in Jun-09. We had an accepted offer in between that we walked away from too.

I would say 4 and that was after a previous 3 months looking ( we took a break to take first time home buyer classes)

honestly for us there really wasnt much out there for us... we are first time home buyers, with a low budget. most that were in our price range were complete guts, or needed 100's of 1000's worth of work which we couldnnot afford. so for us the market was very small and VERY VERY discouraging. we started looking in aug '09 and just found our house in march '10 so about 7 months

We spent about 4 months looking- we were relocating from out of state, and had weekend trips about every other week.

we were just looking to see what was out there while we were saving up for about 6 months then when we started really looking it took about another 5 or 6. We saw about 50

almost a year!! it was hard to find a house we both liked and then when we did like a house there were either bidding wars on it or something else happened... we're finally in contract w/ one now..

Strted looking Aug 09 and was in conract by end of Sept 09 LOL ... but we rushed a bit moe than normal bc of the tax credit

Started looking in September 2007, and were in contract by January 2008. Closed in March 2008.
