Soccer or Dance?

Miki currently takes swimming lessons but I was thinking about signing her up for soccer or dance

they are about the same price (dance is 50/month for an hour long class and soccer is $120 for 10 50 minute lessons)

which would you recommend?

TIA

Can you ask her which she'd prefer? I know C would definitely let me know which she'd prefer Chat Icon

Soooccceeeerrrr!!! Put her in cleats and let her run, run, run and RUUUUUN outside and pound and kick and throw the ball! Huh - sounds like I need to go outside and let go of some pent up aggression, huh? Chat Icon Chat Icon

Huh - your response makes much more sense than mine - didn't even occur to me to actually ASK what SHE would like to do! Chat Icon Must work on that!

Re: Soccer or Dance?

i opted for soccer only b/c i am not a dance kind of mom-i took dance as a kid but i hated it. my DD is not great in very structured situations so the soccer seemed like a better choice. it is really cute, although my DD is a kill-joy during a lot of the sessionsChat Icon and cries and complains Chat Icon so that said, i will try either gymnastics or dance in the fall when she's 3 (3 in june) and Chat Icon for the best that this kid will enjoy herself with something! anyway, sorry for going on about my personal stuff!
i'm sure your DD will love either!

at this age, dance.

the outfits are cuter.

and you know how I feel about soccer. Chat Icon

ETA: I just wanted to explain why....tiny ones don't really "get" the soccer and get easily bored. we are a FOOTIE family and my BIL is a coach with the Brooklyn Italians and a few other organizations and I still wouldn't do it at 2 or 3.

if you want her to learn, take her in the back yard (for FREE) a couple of times a week until she is 4 or 5, then put her in.

For now, I would put her in dance. The recitals are sooo adorable and you will be such a proud mama seeing Miki up on that stage.

I also should have added this. me eldest niece has been playing since she was in the womb Chat Icon and has knee problems.

of course, she was playing at one point on three different teams (she's 12 now and also takes dance), but the wear and tear issue is still there regardless. it is ROUGH on the legs.

Yes, I've heard this as well. DH has been playing soccer since he could walk and I know he had some growth plate issue in his legs (starts with an a or o but I tried googling and I have no clue how to spell it).

Chat Icon good idea, I plan to ask her tonight. It is just with the swimming, I pay 28/week for private lessons and I just feel like she is a little too young to catch on, she just flails her arms and legs around - can you consider that swimming??? Chat Icon

Re: Soccer or Dance?

i would go dance.

did a little trial soccer for josh, maybe it was just him, but he was driven crazy by the kids who were playing around and not paying attention.
3 year olds are all so different...dance seems more structured

I would ask her. We've done both. Both are great.
Miranda asked to stop dance. It was after school and she just didn't have the attention for another hour.
We do gymnastics, soccer and swimming now.

Re: Soccer or Dance?

I am dying to get Elizabeth in a little dance outfit, but I honestly think she'll like soccer more.

Do any places by you offer trials? Maybe do a trial of each and let her pick?
