Dumpster Question?
Anyone have a good place to rent one from and can you throw anything in them? We are looking to do a spring cleaning of our house and yard.
ETA: on Long Island

Re: Dumpster Question?
I think you are in NJ, I actually just had a 20 yd container delivered last week. I am very happy with them and they said if I need it past 2 weeks to let them know and I could have it longer without a few. Most companies only let you use it for a week with a charge, some two weeks with a charge. They told me I could put anything in there except hazardous material and paint cans.
For 20 yds you get 3 tons. Anything over 3 tons is $90 per ton. If you only have half a overage then they charge you $45. Some places will charge you the full ton. That price is what the dump site charges not the companies. So if you call around you will see that price for the overage.
Stallion also, look on the websit because they had a 10% coupon.
I am not sure if you ever ordered a dumpster in NJ, but they are A LOT more expensive in NJ. I called sooo many places and they all were relatively the same price give a few dollars up or down. So for the 20 yd with tax, delivery and discount I paid $554.
For a 10 yrd if you are just doing a spring clean up it is probably going to be around $300 before tax.
Another way to go if you are just doing a spring clean up is either wait for bulk pickup in your area or use 1-800-got-junk. We used them last year and were very happy. They will come and give you a quote and the quote is based on how much of there truck you will fill up. You just point an they take. That was really good for us, I think we paid $200 for a a third of there truck which is large and they put it nicely in there. Also, with them you can negotiate the price.

Re: Dumpster Question?
We rented one when we renovated our bathrooms. I do remember that we couldn't throw concrete in it. I have to ask DH if he remembers anything else.

Sorry, for some reason I thought NJ.
Anyway, they basically told us we could put anything in, but things like dirt weigh more so if they are going to charge you an overage it may not be worth it. I would still call around and see what people say.

Re: Dumpster Question?
We used Zbest. There was no weight limit and I think it was a 15 yard one.

Re: Dumpster Question?
We used Dumpsters R Us. The guy said we could keep it a week but if we went alittle over no biggie, just call. They were also good because I told them we had a new driveway and htey put wood under the wheels so there wasnt any damage.
We did a bathroom reno, but also threw in some old stuff that was garbage!
