which house would you rather?

a) a huge ranch w/an open plan with a block that you like but dont love...it doesnt seem like there are to many youngs kids ( ive only drien by and havent seen any even on nice days....the block seems kind of gloomy) and you were told this used to be the hang out house everynight for adults (so im assuming there arent lil kids really)

b) a colonial on a cul-de-sac which is still very open but not like the ranch. the block seems VERY family friendly and you have seen kids out playing.

you love both of them.

i would love to live on a culdesac... esp having kids.... is there any way you could make it more open? knock down some walls to make it more of your own vision?

Assuming you have kids, then b.

I'd probably pick b anyway, b/c I prefer that style of house.

the house is pretty open....just not like a ranch. its hard to explain.

thank you ladies. I am really leaning toward B but with A its such a huge house that we could have a family party no problem thats what is really stuck in my head but i dont really want everyone over anyway Chat Icon and there is room in B as well. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I prefer colonials. You can have a party anywhere.

Re: which house would you rather?

b - colonials are more desirable and cul de sacs are hard to come by! I'd grab b in a second :)

Re: which house would you rather?

Without a doubt B. High on my wish list was a cul-de-sac.. we wound up at a dead end instead.. but it's GREAT on sunny days for letting the kids play on their skateboards and bikes.

Re: which house would you rather?

I would pick B because neighborhood is so important. When we were thinking of moving and looking at houses, I always noticed the neighborhood. I like an active neighborhood and I love ours - always someone taking a walk, jogging, pushing a stroller, rollerblading, kids playing, etc. Nice neighbors are important and children for your DC to play with are important to (to me anyway).

Re: which house would you rather?

We live in your choice B and I would make the same decision all over again. As my sister in law said, i'd live in a shack as long as it was on the same block. Your neighbors, kids, family friend - it's invaluable.

ETS: I'm not in a cul-de-sac - I just saw that. That would absolutely seal the deal for me!! Hands down, B.
