Lots of pictures - some updates to our foyer & kitchen

Awhile back I had posted some questions about paint for our foyer and loft. We ended up going with BM Manchester Tan and we are very happy with the choice. We extended the color into the hall that goes into our kitchen where it meets BM Ladyfinger and into our dining/living room where it meets BM Nantucket Gray...I was really nervous about how the 3 colors would blend together but it looks pretty good to me. Some reviews on BM Manchester Tan said it could be murky/dark/boring but in our space with our lighting it's actually bright which is just what I wanted for the foyer.

If you notice we spray-painted 2 of the fixtures that came with the house (the foyer pendant and kitchen pendant were both originally brushed nickel). We spray-painted them a flat black and I love the way they came out. I am considering spray painting the original chandelier and trying that over our dining room table since the the three original lights are part of a matching set. Right now we have a candle light fixture up over the dining table (my DH is going to kill me if we end up changing it b/c the candle light was $$ Chat Icon Chat Icon)

Another change we made was on the door hardware - we changed everything out to blackish/oil rubbed bronze finish (in the before pictures you will see the door hardware was brushed nickel just like the original light fixtures were).

We also got a kitchen table and it is great to FINALLY have an eat-in kitchen Chat Icon The table and chairs are actually from Target Chat Icon Getting the furniture from Target saved some $$ which was a score. I couldn't find a set I liked in counter height 36" square (which is the biggest table that would work in our space) so I picked out a table and chairs seperately instead of buying a "set". It turns out the chairs look just like the Crate and Barrel Vinter chairs I loved but were less expensive!

We are contemplating (black) granite counters depending on the price Chat Icon and we are going to need a backsplash either way - maybe white subway tile or a reddish/amberish glass tile??? not quite sure which direction I want to take yet...

Our next BIG project is going to be the stairs!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon We are going to re-finish the wood to something dark like our living-dining room flooring (Rosewood) and we are going to get rid of the white rails and put in black iron spindles Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon BUT that project will be after our tax return, so I must be patient Chat Icon

I also got the Clark Bench from JCP. It resembles the PB Samantha Bench - but I wasn't crazy about the cushions that it came with so I still have to decide what to do with that - either DIY my own cushion or maybe just get some small pillows?

Ok enough yacking - here are the pictures:

Thanks Guys!

Spray painting the light fixtures makes a huge difference - I really disliked our lights until we sprayed them and now I am so happy we kept them....it is def worth trying out before you decide to toss your fixtures for something new...

I love that.. we did the same thing with all our outside lighting when we moved in. We sprayed the lights, got black numbers and black hardware for the screen door.

I love the color in the kitchen too

very nice!
