For the most effective results you are supposed to toss after 1 year.

So if I bought it in Aug, then its good till then? Or should I just start fresh for the season?

Re: Sunscreen Question- How long is it good for?

I used to test sunscreens in my old life. Unless the rules have changed, if there's no expiration date on it, then it is good for 3 years from date of manufacture, under normal (room temp) conditions. If you leave it in a hot car, it is likely to degrade sooner b/c of the heat.

Then comes the challenge of how to find the date of manufacture... which is why I've given up & now buy the ones with expiration dates.

Re: Sunscreen Question- How long is it good for?

I've wondered this as well and actually was going to contact the manufacturer of the one we use (California Baby) to ask them this.

I have 2 tubes of the sunscreen from last year, I think both are actually brand new and never used....no expiration dates on them but there is some coding on them....I was going to email them and ask. They're $17 a bottle, so it's lots of $$ I'd be throwing away!

But then I realized that particularly this brand, since it's an all-natural/chemical-free brand, it probably doesn't have as long as a shelf life as some may. So, I just ordered more the other day for this year. I may still contact them just out of curiosity, but I feel better knowing I just got new stuff for this year.

Mine has an expiration date on it but I would toss after a year even it the expiration date hasn't come.
