Where is your oil tank located??
My question is if you have a oil tank in the ground does your homeowners insurance go up?? I need to start shopping around for homeowners insurance.

We have an underground oil tank and it's not that insurance was high; it's that companies won't even take you on with one.
State Farm will but they're not writing new policies on Long Island for another few months (they reached their quota already). No other major company you've ever heard of will write you a policy with one. We just went through this in January. Had to go through a broker and pay a few hundred more than most of my friends with above-ground tanks pay but we were happy just to get a policy issued for us.

we have a in ground oil tank. Not every company will cover you so call around...my rate isn't crazy high or anything you just have limited companies to choose from.

we have an in ground oil tank, and luckily the previous owners shared there company with us, so we didn't have to do much shopping around

ours was in ground before we bought the house but part of the deal was that they had to abandon it and move it above ground. we would have had issues with insurance if we left it underground. it really wasnt super expensive to move it up. might be worth looking to to save you $$ down the road.
