maybe people are just looking to find drama?
why can't anyone just post something they heard a person in the public say and since i've been thinking about it ever since - why can't i post in a public forum to hear what others think without fear of this sounding like it's inventing drama?
why can't anyone post a question for fear that others will take it and run with it?

Oy, have a sense of humor. This exact topic has caused major drama several times and over the past couple of weeks, MANY old topics that caused drama in the past have resurfaced. I was making a light-hearted, humorous observation -- as was done on nearly every single one of those other threads on similar topics that cause drama in the past.

i do (have a sense of humor) i'm sorry if certain old topics have resurfaced. sometimes i will see/hear things and then i can't wait to run home and come here and ask people how they feel about it. & i welcome all comments - and i know it must be frustrating if you're a LIF Vet & things keep resurfacing; i just know deep down i don't intend for anything to ever turn "saucy."

If I am by myself, always. If I am with DD and the weather is not great -- freezing cold, rainy, or whatever, then I leave it in a safe spot near my car.

I generally like to park my minivan sideways across multiple parking spots so that when I am ready to leave, I can leave the cart there and no one really will complain because the closest car is at least two spots away

No matter WHAT my kids come first. That said-I do not ever use a cart because I have twins and if I happened to use that double cart I would probably put them in the car, lock it and then return the cart

Personally, I ALWAYS bring it back.
I can't stand when I get to my car & see a cart leaning on it because someone didn't feel like walking it back.
I would love to see someone doing this as I was walking towards my car.
This is just plain out rude & inconsiderate. Even if its pouring rain I return it. JMO

Re: Judge Judy & Shopping Carts - I wanna hear YOUR thoughts on this.
Before having kids- brought it back to the cart return or store.
After 1 kid, brought it back to the cart return or store.
Hugely pregnant with a toddler on my hip I still brought it back to the cart return or store.
TWO children (and now pregnant), I STILL bring the cart back.
If it's raining, hailing, sleeting, etc, I put my kids in the car, LOCK it, then walk the 30 feet to the cart return or store.
There is no excuse, IMO to not return a cart.

I try to, but if its not close, I don't do it.
Yea, I'm lazy. Sue me! lol

if your cart goes into my car, you bet your (sweet) asss I will

DITTO....If I saw someone leave a cart and it hit my car I would embarrass the sh!t out of them.
Well if they had kids with themI would hold back as to not cause scene in front of young children...
But the amount times I have seen carts hitting people's cars--it is really wrong IMO.

It's moments like this that I'm happy I live in Manhattan. No car and no carts to leave anywhere

I almost always do...I'd say 95% of the time, whether or not I am parked near the cart collection area.
The few times I don't do it, it is either b/c it's pouring rain, or I'm purely lazy - I'll admit it. DH does it 100% of the time, no matter what.
The funny thing is that every time I don't do it, I think something along the lines of, "what would the LIF ladies think of me now?!"

Re: Judge Judy & Shopping Carts - I wanna hear YOUR thoughts on this.
I wish I had the opportunity to make that decision...my supermarket has those bars up so the carts can't even be taken to the car! So my dilemma is always load up my arms like a madwoman to make only one trip OR leave some of my groceries behind (and who knows what could happen to them!) and make a second trip!

Re: Judge Judy & Shopping Carts - I wanna hear YOUR thoughts on this.
This is my theory - if I take a cart from the parking lot & bring it into the store, I can leave it where I found it.
If I take a cart from the railed spot or the supermarket, I have to return it to where I found it.

Re: Judge Judy & Shopping Carts - I wanna hear YOUR thoughts on this.
I actually agree with Judge Judy and I always walk my cart back. It's the rarest of rare occasions when I don't. I'll leave my DD in the cart, unpack the car, walk it to the coral and then take her out and walk back. Now, I only have one kid right now, but soon I'll have two and I'll do the same thing. I also purposely park close to the coral for this reason. It's just a common courtesy I feel is the right thing to do.

This is what i was thinking...why can't you put the kids in the car & go put the cart away?? I probably shouldn't even answer this question since i just spent the nite with parents who park in fire lanes right NEXT to the no parking sign and let their 5 year olds roam the building alone I just don't get the mentality of some people and how they disregard others and what is the "right" thing to do. Now is leaving a wayward cart an atrocity...no...but it annoys the crap out of me when i go to pull in a spot and there's a cart there so i can't...or i come out and i have one jammed against my car.

Re: Judge Judy & Shopping Carts - I wanna hear YOUR thoughts on this.
I always return the cart regardless.
Last week I had dinner at a restaurant that's in the same shopping center as the grocery store. I go to get in the car and see that someone put their cart directly behind my trunk leaving an inch of space b/w the cart and my car!!! If I didn't see it I obviously would of damaged my car but whose to say it wouldn't of hit someone or someone elses car!!!!!

Re: Judge Judy & Shopping Carts - I wanna hear YOUR thoughts on this.
In most shopping centers, I will return the cart to the return regardless of whether my kids are with me or not. However, one very large shopping center near me - it has the supermarket where I do food shopping, Toys R Us, and a bunch of other larger stores - they have no cart returns at all. They had them at one time and it makes no sense that they removed them because there are tons of parking spots. So in that case, I do not return the cart. If I am alone and parked close - a rarity in both cases, I would do it but if I'm parked a good distance and I have 1 or more children in the car, I am not returning it. I don't throw it against someone's car and I realized it could roll but it's really a ridiculous thing that they don't have cart returns.
