when buying, did anyone else have an issue with the listing agents of the homes you liked?
my own RE is not the issue - it's the listing agents of the homes I want to see.
I am getting so frustrated.
I will want to see a house, but the listing agent never calls back.
Or, they will have major attitudes - for example - a new model home was listed and the taxes were 7500. The house wasn't built yet. When we called to ask questions, she said the taxes weren't 7500, that since the house wasn't built yet, they wouldn't know for sure. Then why post 7500?? Her snotty answer was, "Well, they are under 10k, that much I can assume!" Well, 7500 and 10k are a big leap for me.
I've seen new homes that weren't built yet & they don't write in the taxes - which makes more sense to me.
Not all of them have given a big issue, but there have been more than a handful of listing agents who just never call back to let me see a home.
Just wondered if anyone else experienced this. I know my RE can call the listing agent's broker and say, "we have tried numerous times to contact them..." and we may have to do that.
i know they want to try to sell it themselves - i don't blame them - but these aren't exclusives - get over it. I wish homeowners who are selling knew that this happens A LOT - they are trying to sell their home and many potential buyers want to see it and they get the run-around.

Re: when buying, did anyone else have an issue with the listing agents of the homes you liked?
we dealt with a nightmare sellers agent. She harrassed my lawyer, my agent and us 10 days after signing contracts to have the commitment (you get 45 days). She even went as far as to verbally threaten to find another buyer. My lawyer laughed at her and said "tell your sellers to enjoy fighting this in court over the next 2 years." My lawyer sent her and the sellers lawyer a letter to refrain from calling. I actually made a call to the seller myself and told her what was going on and she was MORTIFIED. She sent an email to her and CC'd everyone (all lawyers and agents) and told her to cut the cr@P. I loved the old owner, she was so fiesty. At closing, she showed up an hour late (which is fine, she was not needed). but interjected with 'useful' tips for us every few minutes (as we were trying to sign/read papers and exchange money). We just ignored her whenever she spoke and finally DH turned around and said "Just stop speaking, no ones interested." She turned beat red.

Re: when buying, did anyone else have an issue with the listing agents of the homes you liked?
we dealt with more cr@p from listing agents then smooth transactions
I just mentioned to DH the other day a house we saw online in the perfect area great looking house at the top of our price point, we called and left a message. I didn't hear back. about a week later I called back and spoke to someone who wasn't the listing agent. told her I left a message about X house, and was wondering if I didn't hear back because they had an offer or it was in contract. she said no, actually they haven't really had anyone even go and look at. she would let the listing agent know we were very interested.
Never heard back
recently, the homeowner dropped the house price by almost 50K
Sorry, and no offense to all the REA on the boards that are great, but I HATED every sellers agent we dealt with on our own. they all played games and screwed around. it was some what better when we went through a buyers agent, but even still they still didn't always call us back, so we missed out on houses.
I got through it by saying to myself, its not meant to be. whatever I was meant to see I will. It was the only way I could handle the stress they put me through

you are setting appointments?
I never have my clients set appointments
and I never call the listing agent- I just call the office and confirm the house is available and when I want to set it up
by LAW the agencey must let me (an agent) know if the house is available with in 60 minutes of me calling
but I rarely have an issue setting an appointment for a property- the only acception are some foreclosures not listed with a tradtitional agent

no, my RE does but they give her the run-around and even if she calls the office and speaks to the receptionist, and leaves a message for the listing agent to call back,a lot of times, they never do.
She's called again and then gotten their cell # and called them directly, and still, sometimes they just don't call back.

Re: when buying, did anyone else have an issue with the listing agents of the homes you liked?
I always just set the appointment with the receptionist- that's their job
in this day and age it's very rare that the listing agent even goes to the showing (only once I had to have a listing agent accompany the key)
the receptionist is suppose to be able to confirm if the house is available and when you can see it
I know alot of agents are jerks- I have dealt with my fair share already- but setting up appointments has not been an issue for me
I have called a few agents on their cell with questions
If the agent doesn't respond- your agent has every right to have her broker call their broker

We didnt like the woman that showed us the house, but liked her partner who was the listing agent, and thank god because the partner turned out to be my next door neighbor
