That's a mighty bright blue you've got there... Definitely going to need two coats of primer to cover that!
Wallpaper is a PITA to remove. Buy the blue goo in a spray bottle (I think it's called Zif) from Home Depot and peel that off.

thats what we are currently living in. the new house we will have a dining room which was a must... the real "master bedroom" is in the basement   so we gave up getting a master bedroom for a dining room

We just spent 4 DAYS ripping down the wallpaper in our bathroom. It was from the 60's.... and they had wallpapered the ceiling.
I couldn't get a good picture of it so you'll have to take my word for it, but I promise, it was ugly.
Meg - congrats on the house! Good luck pulling up that wallpaper. At least you have a chair rail there already; maybe that can be a nice detail to work around (looking for "silver linings" here!).
