Flatscreen Dilemma
Our flatscreen is 42". The wall above it is EMPTY and it drives me crazy. Do you have anything above yours? If so, what?
DH thinks the wall should remain bare. I think it needs something but I'm not sure what. Can you post pics please if you do have something above it. Thanks!

Re: Flatscreen Dilemma
do you have a picture of your room? We don't have that much room in between the ceiling and the TV, but ours is a 55". I don't think you have to have something above it. But maybe a wrought iron piece, nothing too big though. Or maybe a wall decal, again not too big. GL!

Re: Flatscreen Dilemma
That drove me nuts as well. I put the vinyl wall lettering above it... "Love is spoken here."

I don't mean to hyjack...but Jenn627 where are you storing your electronics? We are planning to mount above our fireplace, but can't find anything small for just the electronics.

Right now? On the floor! It's a pain. I can't stand it!!!
My game plan is to get one of those leaning saw horse type bookcases and house the electronics on there and just snake the wires along the sides (in the back).
So if you're looking at the fireplace the bookcase will be on the right and a chair and ottoman will be on the left.
This bookcase:
We just finished doing the office so once we get our tax return back the living room will be next.

I wish I could do something like that...but not with a 2 year old and another on the way I guess I'm going to have to start looking into a custom cabinet

Have you tried Home Decorators or Overstock? Another option would be to just put a media cabinet off to the side.
Like this: Link
If you put something on the other side of the mantel/fireplace it won't look awkward. You just need something to balance it out... Check out "freckles" album - that's where I got my inspiration for the sawhorse bookshelf. She doesn't have identical pieces on either side of the fireplace...
Oh and if you go custom and you like your guy - send him my way!

Let me pick my jaw of the ground...they have EXACTLY what I envision. I tried googling everything I could think of I can't wait to look through them further. I am in NC...we have some GREAT custom furniture people here
