rough internal/sweeping membranes- ADDED ANOTHER QUESTION
My Dr. gave me a rough internal and at my request, did some sweeping of the membranes. This was in the morning. I came home and felt crampy (no surprise there) and went to work in the afternoon (taught dance for 3 hours) and came home for dinner. A little later in the night I lost my mucus plug- it was snotty and brown/pink tinged. I'm sure it had a lot to do with the internal. If you DR. did the same, how long did it take you to go into labor after that? I may be induced tomorrow morning and was just wondering if it was possible/likely to go into labor on my own before then.
ADDED QUESTION- I get the impression that my Dr feels an induction tomorrow would be successful (why else would she have suggested it.) My question is, how far along would you need to be to feel comfortable going with the induction? What would make you decide to hold off/wait it out?

Re: rough internal/sweeping membranes
For both my DC, I had the midwife do the sweeping of the membranes. For DS#1, I went into labor more than one week later and used castor oil to bring it on. For DS#2, I went into labor 3 days later on my own.
Good luck -- you'll be in labor soon!!

Re: rough internal/sweeping membranes
I had a 6 pm appt and the doc streched my membranes. I was 2 days past due and just barely 1cm dialated. I went home and after I ate dinner I THOUGHT I was losing my mucus plug but it was just a very small piece of it. I went into labor 5 am the next morning. My mucus plug did not actually come out until after I was already in labor for about 10 hrs. I was in the shower at the hospital and I sat down on the ledge in the shower on a towel because a few really bad contractions came and when I stood up there was my mucus plug sitting on the towel.... it was HUGE and then I was like "So THAT'S what the mucus plug looks like.... "

I was exactly the same (2cm, 50%) and had an internal (not too rough though) and lost most of my plug the following day and then had another internal (rough one) the next day. At that point I was 2cm and 80% and I went it to labor that night and had DS in the morning. I would think that it should happen naturally very soon!

Re: rough internal/sweeping membranes- ADDED ANOTHER QUESTION
I had mine done at about 1 pm and went into labor around 8 pm (very early labor). I was already 4 days late. And I was in labor for 36 hours from start to finish.
ETA I would have waited for the induction until I was 7 days late. For some reason, I'm scared of being induced.

Part of me is afraid of the induction too, which is why I asked. But I was induced with DS due to low fluid levels and had a GREAT induction experience. At first I was really excited that she wanted to induce me tomorrow, now I'm getting kind of nervous.

Re: rough internal/sweeping membranes- ADDED ANOTHER QUESTION
For your second question-I was due on a Sunday...the tuesday after I had an appointment and I was 1.5cm dilated (after being only like a fingertip the week before)...my induction was scheduled for Sunday night(1 week overdue). Friday morning I started losing my mucous...Saturday night I started having contractions 3-5 minutes apart and Sunday around noon I had my dd so I never needed the induction. I would say 1 week over is the most I would go.

Re: rough internal/sweeping membranes- ADDED ANOTHER QUESTION
Not sure about the membrane question but I was induced at 37 weeks due to severe PUPPPs. My doctor wasn't at all concerned about it being too early.
Good luck!!

Re: rough internal/sweeping membranes- ADDED ANOTHER QUESTION
I went into labor that night, but it was slow moving. I had this on Friday, started having contractions that were more regular Saturday, but not close enough together to go to the hospital until Sunday evening. DS was born at 2:06am Monday.
ETA: 1 week after dd for induction. I never made it.
