Went into the bank with a direct deposit issue and found out today they signed me up for a CC without my knowledge!

I am pi$$ED! I got a CC in the mail today that I never signed up for. I called about it and they said I had discussed it with someone on the date I was last in the bank, which is NOT true So the banker I sat down with took it upon himself to sign me up for overdraft and a new CC.

Call and speak to the manager. this doesn't even sound legal and this person should get in trouble or loose their job over this.

Curious about if these tellers get a bonus for each credit card they sign someone up for - retail stores work this way - they could be doing this to everyone!

Not sure how this works, but wouldn't you have to sign something to open a credit card?

Was it Chase? Lately everytime I go inside for something they pull me to a desk. While someone takes care of my transaction, someone else reviews my accounts and tries to get me to sign up for eveything under the sun. It's happened twice in 2 different branches. I asked one of the women if they get a commission for it and she said yes. I would definitely call the branch manager.

Some banks with send you credit cards out of the blue, ONLY if you have an existing business relationship with them.

If you already have accounts with Chase, they periodically do account reviews (soft credit checks). If they feel like you could use a card, they will send you one and open the account in your name.

Doing this does not hurt your credit since it didn't come in as a hard inquiry (at least it shouldn't have - if it did you can sue them). If you don't want the card just cancel/close it.

I always accept new cards when I get them sent to me. You never know when they will send you a juicy offer afterwards.
