Alarm Systems

Would anyone care to share how much they paid or were quoted for an alarm system?

We just got an estimate for wireless alarming of the first floor, windows and doors and basement windows for $1750. I was wondering if this is high or low? oh and a service fee for I think $25/month. (DH has all the paperwork, I am working from memory)

Re: Alarm Systems

How many doors and windows? My DH said it's about $75 per transmitter.

That sounds about right to me too on the per/transmitter cost. Every componant adds to the cost - glass break and motion detectors, fire and CO alarms, window and doors, extra key pads, etc. That monitoring rate sounds fair - we pay just a tad more than that every 3 months.

I did my front door, garage door, back sliding door (with glass shatter) and the side door, the basement and kitchen windows, 2 motions and 2 keypads for $900. They negotiate, trust me! Their intial quote was around 1350.

Re: Alarm Systems

Do most people have alarm systems installed? I haven't actually given it much thought and I'm wondering if I should.

Ugh...I've been meaning to get estimates, but I'm afraid of the figures they're going to throw back at me considering the number of french doors and windows we have. Chat Icon

We used ADT and got the three doors in our house done and glass break done when they were running a "special" which it seems like they always are... anyway I don't think we paid more than $500 for everything-keypad, wireless remote, etc. Our service is $43 a month including fire. GL

Re: Alarm Systems

brinks just quoted us 140 per glass breaker.

we already have an alarm system in the house, so they are using some of the motion sensors and hard wiring. for the premium keypads we were quoted just under $300 for 2 of them. Its 36.00 p/m which is what i pay with our current security guy (20 p/m + 16.00 for the verizon landline needed to run it).
