Decorating help

Just bought this area rug. What do you think I should put above the couch? The walls are smokey taupe. We also ordered this coffee table coffee table
Hope I'm able to upload pic of my couch.

I love the rug- it's hard to make suggestions without knowing more about your style. I love the coffee table too.

Personally, I like vintage-y stuff, old maps, things like that.

Maybe something like this? Vintage pretties blog

I love this blog- lots of ideas, but again, not everyone's style.

This month's issue of Real Simple had a neat article on identifying your style with sites and stores to check out- I found it useful. Unfortunately I don't think that piece is online but the issue should be easy to get and may give you more ideas.

LOVE the colors in the rug.

I would hang either one larger landscape orientation piece of art (same color palette as the rug) or a grouping of 3 framed prints. You could also hang crown molding shelves decorated with framed prints and small accessories.

In addition to the artwork, I would also add a side table with a table lamp or a side table with a floor lamp. Place a seagrass basket (same color as coffee table storage/ottomans) under the side table for magazines or small toys.

I think people aren't responding because it's hard to get a sense of the room with one picture. How about a nice mirror?

I know, but if you look at my other post from yesterday, I had the HARDEST time getting 1 picture posted. There really isn't much more to see. We moved in a year ago and don't have much furniture and never hung anything on the walls because there was awful wallpaper that we took down. It's a cape so to the left is the dining room.

Thanks for your suggestions everybody! I def. have to get end tables as well. Just not sure if I want the ones that go with the coffee table. Thanks again!

cool blog. Thanks.
I don't think I know my own style. Still trying to figure that out. Not over thinking things, just going with my gut. My friends tell me I'm more traditional, which I really don't want to be. But when I go with my gut, thats what I seem to pick. I'm def. going to look at more sites. I get some great ideas from here too.
