How to "snaz" up a tiny kitchen
We are planning on selling our home in a year or 2. We are just outgrowing it (it is a small ranch)
anyway, my kitchen is TINY and I want to do something to make it more appealing to buyers
we were thinking of painting it, getting new countertops, painting the cabinets and new hardware
anything else we can do to make it more attractive to buyers? and is it worth it to put money into the kitchen - or is it kind of like the whole "lipstick on a pig"

are you completing with newer homes in the area?
you DH could do it right?
I think if you did it smart and kept the cost down you would see a return on the investment

I would paint the cabinets and change the hardware. Paint the walls something neutral and declutter! HGTV says neutral and decluttering are the way to go. I know I walked into a house last week and the kitchen was PINK with crap everywhere. Made me nuts and I had to leave the house.

DE-CLUTTER, that is the #1 easiest and most important thing i think that can be done to attract more buyers. New hardware and new lighting fixtures can also be quick and cheap and make a difference. Although kitchens in general are a good place to invest $, so if your budget calls for it, new countertops are a great investment.

do you have any pics?
And I don't think it's like lipstick on a pig. You want to get the most for the home that you can. If you do this little mini make over now, for a budget, then I don't see how it is a waste. You might not sell as quick, so spending a little money now, might be the right thing for you to do. I love watching Designed to Sell on HGTV. They do it for $2000 and mini makeover the whole house. GL!

That does NOT sound like putting lipstick on a pig. That is more than enough. Even a $500 investment in a kitchen nets great returns.
Since it's "tiny" I would do everything a light, neutral color. I echo the de-cluttering when it comes time to sell.

Re: How to "snaz" up a tiny kitchen
Steph definitely-tile. New counters, paint the walls. Paint the cabinets off white and add new hardware. Organize your pantry and laundry room with some shelving.
I am not sure what kind of job it would be but if you took out the wall behind your stove and got a freestanding range hood-it would open it up a lot.
Like this:
Definitely not lipstick on a pig...the rest of your house is pretty much redone so that is the big thing now. Maybe a little landscaping out front ...

It would definitely matter.
I don't think you'd be wasting your time by doing the upgrades you're thinking about.
