Where do your parents live ?
In the city, every person has to recycle, unless they contract with private sanitation as does my co-op. Garbage is not sorted at the landfills.

Garbage is not sorted at the landfills. And they could receive a fine for not recycling at all.

its required by law (at least in my town) to sort and recycle.........
and garbage is not sorted at a landfill
