for those of you taking a breastfeeding class

Is your husband attending with you?

I personally wanted him to come and they say the class is for couples. DH dosnt seem to mind, it's just a 2 hour class. But I just want to make sure he wont be the only guy there.

oops, sorry I totally didnt see your post! I feel like I have been doing that a lot lately. You're right it is good info for him to know, and I think it will help him to see what you are going through during the process.

Re: for those of you taking a breastfeeding class

I was wondering this too. I don't want to bring him & have him be bored out of his mind. Part of me wants him to be there b/c he absorbs info like a sponge. I know once Chat Icon he will be able to say things like remember when they said to try this. Also I think it is good for him to be informed about it all. I am going to drag him most likely. I am sure he won't be the only DH there, if so oh well.

we just booked our class this week. Yes, DH is going to go. i'm sure he;ll be bored to tears but it'll be good for him to understand what's going on and to remember anything that i forget.

Re: for those of you taking a breastfeeding class

DH wanted to go so yes.

We are also taking an infant care class. That class is 3 sessions long and one entire session is the same as the breastfeeding class (so we are skipping that first session). I suppose SO's are expected to go...

Re: for those of you taking a breastfeeding class

Here's a bit of unsolicited advice from a BTDT Mommy. My DS is 8 weeks old and if it weren't for DH learning about BFing and Supporting me 130%...we would not have made it this far as successfully as we have. IMHO...a BFing woman needs an incredible amount of partner support and nurturing. While your DHs won't be able to feed the baby, it will be important for him to learn just as much, if not more than you, so that he can be a calm, rational mind when you're feeling anxious in the early weeks. So, I strongly suggest that all Dads attend. Their support is invaluable.

ITA. My BTDT mommy friends have all said the same thing - how important it is for the DH to KNOW what's up, support you, etc. DH will be going with me to mine.

I agree. MY DS is 8 weeks old also and EBF and DH's support has been invaluable. He was the one who remembered things from the class. He was the one who sat next to me telling me what a great job I was doing and encouraging me when I was exhausted bc DS wanted to eat every hour.

I attended a BF class with DH. Just about every mother there was with their partner/husband.

Re: for those of you taking a breastfeeding class

When I was PG with Abby I made DH go with me because he was the one who wanted me to BF when I did not. The only thing that held his attention was the "Football Hold".

Re: for those of you taking a breastfeeding class

I think DH's should go to BFing classes with their DWs. My OBs office did not allow the DH's to attend, and I think had DH been able to go with me, he would have been able to be much more supportive of my decisions regarding BFing (it didn't wok out for me), if he really understood just how hard and demanding it is.

I asked the lady who scheduled my classes and she said almost every DH goes to the BFing class. My DH will be coming!

Re: for those of you taking a breastfeeding class

My DH will be coming. I forget how it was worded in the description, but they def. made it sound like it was for couples.

I figure I am going to need his support, so he should be there! Chat Icon

Re: for those of you taking a breastfeeding class

I am glad to hear all of this! DH is definately on board with coming, in fact he didnt even question it. He has been great, and ITA that it will help majorly if he is there. Honestly, I am sure I will forget much of what they teach so having him there just for that will help.
